Title: Free 084 and 087 calls!
Post by the_dark_horse on Nov 4th, 2005 at 2:00pm
Hi All!

Have a look at www.cell-comm.co.uk

You can now use your cross network mobile minutes to stop being charged for pesky non-geographics!!

Has worked with my Orange x-net mintues  ;D

Access is via a 07744 number ,and you can only use an 07744 number out of your inclusive x-net minutes on 02 contract, and payg add ons,or Orange Contract. All other networks will charge you to call 07744.

The calls are not free any way they come out of your inclusive cross network minutes, which you pay a rental for. So if say you have 200 minutes and they cost you £25 a month. The calls are in fact costing you 12.5p a minute.

Thats a good call I guess! But if you have x-net mins, its much better than paying 10p a minute!!

I think using the landline to call 0870, especially at evenings, and weekends is cheaper, or even better using 18185 during the day.

However a contract mobile, which would have to be on O2, or orange to use the 07744 code might charge a normal £20-£30, however by getting a non top of the range mobile, and opting for cashback, and getting a new contract 12 months later, and selling the old phone, does bring down that monthly cost, and therefore the cheapest way to call 0870 would be via the mobile with O2, and via 07744 with Orange.

And don't forget the free texts as well by using the mobile!!

And also don't forget to cancel after 12 months.  Staying on a contract at £30 per month is not as good as cancelling the contract and taking a new one out with 6-10 months free line rental, and a new phone, and enabling you to sell the old one in the local paper for about £20.

Going by the number, that site is a Simply-Fone affiliate, but has not kept its information up to date ...

It says Orange, O2 and T-mobile phones can use it. Orange stopped and restarted inclusive minute access, but their restart was after T-mobile ceased it.

This means that the website has not been updated since about March. Given that the networks decisions are open to change, I'd rather use a service that gives better information, like S-F itself.

apparently T-mob dont charge extra for 07744, Ill belive it when I see it.

This is what T-Mob charge for the evil 08xx numbers....

Local toll rate services
(eg. 0854 numbers)
10p pm

National toll rate services
(eg. 0845, 0870, 0871 numbers)
10p pm

Not bad for 0871, bad for everything else, notice how they still call it local/national.
