| Hello! I've joined the forum just now in order to post a request. Does anyone have a geo for Penrhyn Bay Medical Centre? (http://www.penrhynbay-deganwymedicalcentre.co.uk/) They changed to a pesky 0844 a couple of years ago, a move which coincided with a change of policy for making appointments. Until then, there was no guarantee that you would get an appointment on the same day. So many people complained that they had to wait days to see a doctor, that they changed the system to one where you have to phone (or visit) between 8.30 and 9.00am (a nightmare for people on their way to work at that time - i.e. the majority!), and you're certain to get an appointment sometime that day. (Again, a nightmare for workers, as it means they can't book time off with their boss until the last minute, but I digress...) That was when the number changed to a non-geo one. Dialling the old number (01492 549368) only gives you the posh BT lady telling you to dial the new one (0844 477 3342). At the moment I use a pre-paid over-ride service (ASDA Calltime) to bypass BT when phoning the surgery. This costs 10p a minute (so a £10 top-up with my ASDA Calltime swipe card would give me 100 minutes calling that particular 0844 number). That's not too bad when I don't have to call the surgery often; otherwise, it would be cheaper to just go over my BT inclusive minutes by making the call with them. There *must* be a better alternative?  |

| Was trying to buy something on the internet when the Verified by Visa system appeared. Tried to do as requested but it wouldn't accept what I was inputting so it blocked me. Tried various listed numbers but they keep giving me an 0844 number, so can anybody give me an alternative to: 0844 8119152. Thanks in anticipation. |

If that returns too many results not connected with what I am looking for, then I may add another word to it or use another word within the organisation's name (where there is more than one). So in this case, I looked up budget , although a search of budget insurance would bring up the results, one cannot know whether they are listed as that in the database. In this instance they are, but consider an organisation whose name could be written slightly differently, e.g. it could sometimes be referred to as "Such and Such Medical Centre" or "Such and Such Health Centre". If you enter the name which is the one not used in our listings, then it will not be returned. However, if you just search for "such and such", then it will be returned. Remember the old adage, less is more. Use less search words to return more results; conversely, more words is more restrictive. This is one of a number of published 0844 numbers, apparently for the same purpose. |

| Two new numbers for the Jobcentre 'Benefits Delivery Centre' (BDC) office in Basildon, which seems to now be handling all claims in the East of England following the closure of the Norwich BDC. 01268 633006 (I have not used the number but have no reason to doubt it) 01268 633061 (I have used, & can confirm that this number is correct for this office). Incidentally, the names of two managers there are: Tina Hill & Steve Ford. These numbers were furnished to me by one of the 0845 call centres, (I used a phone at the jc to call it!), after I threatened to contact my MP if they continued to refuse to give me a direct number for the BDC. You may like to note that telling most jc staff that you are going to your MP seems to make them suddenly become a lot more helpful! |
