Hi, i'm a new member so be gentle with me please. Ofsted have recently taken over the registration of Childminders from the local councils. They have set up two 0845 nos for their centralised services. Namely:

0845 601 4771 - ofsted Registration
0845 601 4772 - ofsted Complaints and Enforcement

Their address is:
ofsted
Louisa House
92-93 Edward Street
Birmingham B1 2AG

Can you identify the geographic no please? Many thanks dizzyjake (i use your service a lot, it's saved me £s and £s, so many thanks again)

A Google of "B1 2AG" 0121 throws up only a few results which all give the same number.

This page on the Ofsted site gives regional offices (see page 5):
Birmingham (West Midlands) Regional Centre
Regional manager: Heather Mytton-Sanneh
Telephone: 0121 254 2904

I notice all the numbers for the managers end 04. It also says that the 0845 goes through to your local office. Maybe if we find what the last few digits are, we can then work out what they will be at the other offices.

For 0845 6014771 try 0121 254 2900 or 2901. They both go to a recording at the moment saying "Thank you for calling the Ofsted Early Years Helpline..."

For 0845 6014772 I'm not sure because their is no answer on the 0845 at present, not even an answerphone. Try other numbers starting 0121 254 2902.

Just tried each office and it appears that the helpline is on 00. All but London, Leeds and Birmingham have a recording on the complaints line. For those that have a recording, it is on 01.

Birmingham is the only office with the helpline on two numbers; 00 and 01. Like I said before, I presume the Birmingham complaints line will be on 02.

I am quitely confident that when dizzyjake, err Sir, returns he will be pleased with my work! Grin

Ofsted, 2nd and 3rd Floors, The Frontage,
Queen Street, Nottingham, NG1 2AR.
from 1 Aug 05, so might be worth delaying the update of your master list until checked again after the move.

That's the location of the Nottingham (East Midlands) Office (see the link I pointed to). From this page, it looks as though there going to be just one office for the whole of the Midlands. It also looks as though Bristol's office is set for a move soon, see here.

Although the 0845 doesn't match, it may well be the call is still handled at the same office.

Hello Ali,
I said here that Bristol was set for a move. There is a press release on Ofsted's website dated 25 July 2005 saying that they were moving to Freshford House.

The existing 0117 numbers (listed in the database) ring, but answer with messages redirecting to 0845 6404040. I tried the Harlow office and it gave the same recording as Bristol. Maybe they have discontinued the geographicals we have in the database. Lips Sealed

The fact that they have a recording tells us that they are still in service, and that the offices will still use the same range of numbers.

Contact information for Ofsted is here. 0845 6404040 is labelled as "find out about childcare regulation".

It seems that Ofsted services are now located in Manchester (according to their website). This number - 0161 618 8610 - has been listed here as their number for "enquiries". Judging by several other results I've found for ofsted+0161+618 they also have "enquiry" numbers within the 0161 618 85xx range (24 is their minicom number). Some other ranges to try include 0161 618 82xx (this seems to be more for direct lines to staff at Ofsted) and 0161 618 83xx (related to recruitment I think).

I don't mind helping you with your request as long as you read the instructions!
