I just answered this number and the person indicated they were calling from the Halifax and they were trying to sell me a Halifax One card. I challenged them about them using an 0870 number but they confirmed that they were from the Halifax. I then called the Halifax and they do use marketing companies to sell their products. If you don't want to receive such a call from the Halifax I was advised to go into a local branch and ask to be removed from their marking list.

Twice when I answered the line went dead then today I answered and no-one answered back. I have looked for the number and I am a Halifax card holder so I will call them to see what they say. Will let you all know.

Experience has shown that Halifax will make a call within 3 days of your pay by date if you have forgotten / failed. Don't forget that it has probably now cost you £12 in charges.
