I was reading in the forum about OneTel and their Line Rental, another company that now offers line rental is Homecall (www.homecall.co.uk) at the moment they are offering line rental for £9.99, and a package offering unlimited broadband with unlimited UK calls (01 and 02) for up to 90 mins at a time for £19.99.  Add this to something like 1899 for international calls and I think it's pretty good.  They can add premium rate/mobile and international bars free of charge if you want them too although they take 24-48 hours to put on/remove.

Also their call centres are in Manchester and Stoke!!!  Where I do think the other line rental providers fall down though is on fault repair as this has to be tasked through BT.

Yes all alternative line rental suppliers line faults have to be dealt with by BT, other then Cable Companies,and possibly Bulldog.

Homecall offer may be a good one if you want Broadband.But i do wonder if many people using these all calls inclusive packages are using them to the full.Lets take a £10 package if you were to use 18866 it would give you 500 UK calls a month.How many people apart from high users make that number of calls.

Apart from the line maintenance aspect,if you change your line rental provider you lose the ability to use the 1280 BT Access which gives you cheaper NGN calls.

I would suggest its still better for people to keep BT ,and register for One Tels Free Weekend Calls.That way you get

Free Weekend Calls From Onetel.
Free DQ service from Onetel.
£2O  credit if you join OneTel online before the end of May.
Use 18866/1899 to make all your weekday,Mobile,Intl Calls.
Still have the use of the 1280 Bt overide for Ngn calls.

I have just noticed on Bulldog they are offering up to 4mb.8hrs online.Line rental.All Uk calls free apart from NGN for £28 for  first 6 months.

Bulldog's £28.00 a month is not bad, but what is it with companies limiting their Broadband?!?!  Homecall isn't as fast certainly, they are currently starting a customer wide upgrade to 2mb but it is unlimited, no restrictions on uploads or downloads, with the geographical calls free and with line rental it's £29.98 and it isn't a limited 6 month thing.   I'm not saying there aren't better things out there but just another option of what is if people are interested.  I know my Dad has this service and he's very happy with it.

Thanks for the 1280 info Sam. I personally wouldnt tie myself down to a 12 month broadband contract  at the moment,as its coming down in price and the Bandwith is increasing.I am on a contract i can get out of quickly.

Another reason  i wouldnt use Homecall  part of MR CAULDWELLS Phones 4 u Empire, is that if you want to join over the phone,they expect you to ring an 0870 number!!!!

Yes but it is my personal policy not to purchase anything from a company that uses 0870 for sales purposes.

Hi, i also signed up with Homecall and the deal i got was £8.50 line rental (plus vat) and £21.27 for 512k Broadband including all landline calls 'free'.    My last month's non geog calls came to £7.14.  This months phone bill £30.88. i had been spending £120-£150pcm with BT.  Homecall give £12.50 for a referral to both referer, and referee

Since using SayNo  (Fan-blinking-tastic site  that you are may i say) i have saved myself huge amounts of money. Many many manay thanks to whoever started this.

Its good to see that you have got away from the dreaded BT and you are saving lots of money.

But being a big user of the phone doesnt it concern.you 1.That if something goes wrong with the line you have to report it to Homecall,then they report it to BT.
2.That you have tied yourself up in a 12 month contract for broadband when prices are falling,and bandwiths are increasing.

Out of interest what do they charge to call Non-Geographical No,s.

Am i write in thinking that the £12.50p referral credit can only be used against calls,and not rental.

The £12.50 receommend a friend is credited to your account, so for example....if you only paid for line rental then it would cover that and leave you in credit for the next month.  It's a non-specific credit, there is no limit to how many people you recommend either.

I should really concentrate.....as for NGN, 0845 and 0870 are the same rates as BT as far as I'm aware, but Premium rate numbers are higher which is where the BT breakout code (1280) would come in useful for those people wanting to dial them or one of the other providers that offer cheaper calls to them.

1. I think that you will find if you ask them.The 12.50 credit for a referral is applied to your first bill after the person recommended connects and is definitely for calls only!!! So if you are on unlimited calls it is difficult to use.



2.A mate of mind in the Broadband game says he thinks the Broadband is supplied by Tiscali !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
