Although not a FOI request, this is what I received back from NARIC in response to my complaint about calling from overseas:

I assume you wish to contact the individual assessment department and,
unfortunately, we do not have any other telephone number other than
+44(0)870 990 4088 for them. However, our old fax number might still
work and you could try to fax your request through to +44(0)1242 258
611. If you need your american qualifications assessed by us please have
a look at our website www.naric.org.uk and you should find all the
relevant information on what you need to send in, etc. on there.

I am sorry, that I cannot be any more helpful, but unfortunately this
department is completely separate and we are not dealing with individual
assessments.

Does anyone know whether the FOI act will actually apply to this orgz (http://www.naric.org.uk/about.asp)? I did ask this question in my original email but NARIC has ignored that aspect.
