Well BE Unlimited are 0207 479 5000.

This is for their head office but broadband (c/s, etc) enquiries are not based there and the woman I spoke with wasn't sure where they are based but gave me the 0870 number.

I have been in discussions with Be over their use of 0870 numbers, and someone has been appointed to look into the issue and report back to the directors.

If you are a customer, or potential customer if you could mention that you do not like their use of 0870 numbers, it may pay dividends.

Cheers, Des.

Title: ISP provider - Be There
Post by dcgun32 on Aug 9th, 2007 at 11:30am
Hi - I have recently signed up to Be there broadband.  The only number I have been given for this service provider is 0808 234 8570, can anyone please suggest a way to help me get their landline number.

0808 is a freephone number (from a landline, premium rate charges apply from a mobile :-/) so why would you want an alternative number? If you are calling from a mobile, you can use one of these call through numbers - 020 0222 0700 or 020 0222 0900.

Indeed. And from their contact page they provide freephone numbers for all contact.

Search the database for be unlimited and you will find all free numbers and the 020 head office number given by bbb_uk above.

Going by the OP, it seems that Be have seen the light and binned their 0870 (and 0845) numbers. 0845s are listed in the database.

thanks heaps for that.  I have been out of the UK for a three years and assumed 0808 numbers were like 0845 numbers.  Cheers for clarification.

This illustrates clearly the utter illogicality and incompetence of Ofcon.   Why are freephone numbers so close to, and confused with, expensive 'premium' rate numbers??   They should be in separate and distinctive ranges.

Unless you live abroad, or are calling from a mobile, in which case they are considered just that  ::).
