Title: Direct Assist - Europ assistance Post by Bugsiemalone on Mar 17th, 2007 at 8:28am
Anyone have info please on the alternative numbers for the company above used by EDF Energy ( London and south East )for boiler maintenace. The nearest link is for South East water's Home cover who also use this insurance based service but I am wondering if there should be a direct number ( ?or maybe not?) The 0870 number is 0870 241 0693.

If you look in the database under "Direct Assist" you will see that there is the freephone number
0800 092 1610 given for SE Water Direct Assist albeit the 0870 number to which it relates is different from what you have given. Also, there are lots of geog numbers given in the database for Europ Assist who are located in Haywards Heath. |

Hello Lompos, thank you for that. As you can see I am very new to this. I tried by completeing the 'search for alternative number 'form on the home page and it gave me the South east Water number which I put in the question and obviously the same as you found. I don't know what you mean by the database. I clicked on the link at the bottom of the home page and entered the numer and got nowheer. i then clicked on the link for geographic numbers and tried google and got not much further.
I am sure that its inexperience but for future refernce can you let me know how to search the geographic databse to find what you did. i can assure you that i tried for some time before posting. Thank you |

Hello Bugsiemalone , from the Home page click on "search to find an alternative number".
Here you find two boxes. You can either put in the name of a company or a non-geographic number (a number starting with 08), then click Search. If there is data present what you then get are generally two tables. The top one contains the verified numbers, and the bottom blue one the numbers that someone reported but have not yet been verified. For smaller companies there may only be one line, verified or unverified. Generally it is better to search under the name of a company than the 08 number, this brings up more alternatives, as for instance in the case of Europ Assistance or Direct Assist. The database is simply all the data that has been accumulated by members of this forum and which you access by clicking on "search to find an alternative number". Hope this helps |

Thank you for your help. Much apprecaiated. regretably the unverified numbers do not work but I will try others. Is ther eany way of telling how much I shall be paying ;) :)for using a specific 0870 number because in this case there is nothing on their literature to tell me.

If you have a BT landline and are on one of the BT Together Options (1, 2 or 3) then the charges are:
Day evening weekend 0845 3p/min 1p/min 0.5p/min 0870 7p/min 3.5p/min 1.5p/min plus a 3p connection charge. As you can see calling 0870 numbers over the weekend is not too expensive. For charges by providers other than BT see: Home >> Discussions Forum >> Geographical numbers chat >> the third item from the top is a price comparison between calling 01/02 and 0845/0870 numbers. :) |
