I'm trying to find a number for Mobilephonesdirect.co.uk who have listed an 0845 number:

0845 470 4000

I checked the database already and the number listed,  01635 522222, is not working.

I did find looking at the yell.co.uk site a number to call 01635 588777 but that doesn't get me through to the same location.

This number works as it rings out. It is also the contact number for the Nokia Retail store in Newbury, address 71 Northbrook Street, Newbury RG14 1AE.


The address on the main contact page is:

Looking back at what the website used to look like on the Internet Archive, http://www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk/contact.aspx]in October 2007 the contact page[/url] gave 71 Northbrook Street, Newbury as the main address. It could be that the main 0845 telephone number is answered there.

Again on the Internet Archive, the store directory in February 2002 listed:

Okay, I rang that number "01635 588777" and it does get through to the correct location but they said they couldn't put me through due to the phone system. Probably meaning they just want you to call the 0845 number and pay! I just left my number and they called me within 5 minutes.

Might be a good number to add as it does work sort of!

When they called you, was there a CLI number or was it withheld?

I'm not sure what a CLI number is :(

CLI=Calling Line Identification: The caller's number presented on a caller display or via 1471 etc.

If you dial 1471, do you get number withheld or is there a number read out? If so, please record the number and post it here.

I presume that should be +448454284000 which makes it 0845 428 4000, which is different to the main 0845 470 4000 number.

We may have been lucky, the number presented could have been the 01635 number we are looking for.

I used the 0163 5588777 number today and it worked fine. Was answered by a real person, who transferred me through to the automated system to get through to the sales team. Perfectly polite and painless.

Just a quick addition to the information above: phoning 01635 588777 takes you through to the reception desk at the Mobile Phones Direct office. Ask to be put through to Customer Services (not necessarily Sales) and you'll get through to the automated system - from here you can choose sales or any other option. Good luck getting through to a call handler, though: I was on hold for ages and had to give up when my mobile battery died.
