A search shows Simply Be to be part of JD Williams. JD Williams number is 0161 2382000. See if they will put you through.

I already tried that and they said NO WAY!  0161 2382000 is the Buying Offices so maybe they worked out we have the alternative number for all the catalogues & changed it !! Start looking for another people !

Googled around for the other number 0870 6022602 but couldn't find it anywhere.    :'(

• Check your information as best you can. The 0870 6068000 is for JD Williams (from what they tell me). The Order line for Simply be is 0870 6033603 - couldn't find alternative YET !  :-/
  
• No need to sign, unless you want to put a unique signature in your profile. Your info is on the left.
  
• Edit your profile with "a little" info. See what others have done to get an idea.

However, my wife has checked the recently received catalogs from Simply Be and Fashion World, my original 0870 numbers are the same for both companies and are definitely correct as I stated. I have 20 pages of 0800 freefone nos. accumulated over the years, some probably out of date, any use? Thanks to you both again

When I rang 0161 2382000 from our listing again, they told me that 0870 6068000 is the Simply Be Order line and 0870 6033603 is Customer services, from which you can place orders for any of the catalogues. I also found that you can't do much else on  0161 2382000, so we need to find the Geographic alternative for 0870 6033603 to replace the one we presently show for all the catalogues. :-/

Concerning the 0800 list. Yes please. We would love to add it if it replaces 087*/084* numbers. It may take a while to add them but all donations gratefully received.

These companies are part of N Brown Group and the number is listed as the JD Williams switchboard on their website.

Thing is "Simply Be" is a common phrase, so Google finds loads of rubbish.

I've tried Fashion World in Google and all I can find is 0161 236 9911 for orders and 0161 236 5511 for enquiries, but both are out of service.

The numbers we are looking for may be 0161 236 ???? or 0161 238 2???. A Google search of these prefixes throws up nothing.

Hi pauldavidtz, Thanks for trying, I called 0800-142-143 which is the no. for Naturally Close Underwear. They just gave me an 0870 no. for Fashion World/Simply Be. This is proving to be a difficult one to crack! My wife called 0161-238-2000 yesterday to place an order and asked to be put through to Fw/Sb, they refused & when my wife complained about the cost of 0870 nos. they kept on insisting it was the usual National rate, when my wife disputed this, the girl on the other end said: "Nobody's forcing you to place an order". So much for British sales promotion. My wife then used the 0870 number, and the guy who took her order was furious when she related what had transpired, but said he didn't know any other no. to contact them. I think some of these firms are keeping their staff in the dark about these non-geographical nos. robin

If you like using Simply Be/Fashion World so much, write to them and explain your disatisfaction at having to use 0870. Explain that these numbers carry a premium and are therefore premium rate.

Why bother to phone when you can place orders with the JD Williams group of companie over the internet within the cost of your existing ISP fee. It saves speaking to their aggressive  telesales staff and you get a printoff on what you have ordered. Only problem is that you have to phone if you want any discount on offer currently quoting code GYKU2 gives you 10% off - worth using their 0870 number to get this ! SH.

Well I got a rather unhelpful woman who tried to put me back onto the 0870 number but I am guessing since she knew the number she probably could have helped me with my enquiry! Thank you!

I recently discovered from your website that there was an alternative number for Oxendales (mail order co).
Their NGN was 0870 6099000  -  your website suggested 0161 2382000 as the alternative.

However, when the 0161 number was dialled I was told that it was a 'security number' whatever that is.

When I requested that I be transferred to the order department  I was told this was not possible and was given the original NGN (0870 6099000) to dial; so effectively there was no alternative number.
In fact it indicates that the B*****DS are on to us.

I now propose to send them an e-mail to the effect that they are about to lose a customer (a valued customer as they are always telling me!!) as a result of their devious methods.

I fear that it will have little effect unless hordes of people do the same: they might change their minds if they lose more money from disgruntled customers than they earn from using NGNs.

What time did you ring? Was it out of hours? That be out of office hours (09:00-17:00). I imagine the switchboard won't be operating then. Maybe OOH the main number goes through to security.

Their head office switchboard number is also in the database - have you tried ringing and asking to be transferred? My guess would be that they have just changed the number to somewhere else in that range of numbers (35xx?).

Yes.   They said "This is the Service Resolution Team.  Please redial 0870.160.1941".   I didn't redial it to see what I would get.   Thanks anyway.   Wee Scottie

I've had similar problems with this lot.  My account is now in the hands of Reliable Collections Ltd which I am certain is the part of the JD Williams Group because the number is the same as the automated one for the Shoe tailor to Pay accounts 0870 160 1951

What is even more ludicrous in my eyes is the section on the back of their letter (the address is the same as JD Williams I think) is the notice as follows

Naturally Close are mainly an on-line catalogue. Its seems Naturally Close is just one of many names used by the main company of Fashion World Ltd, a sister company of J.D. Williams. HOWEVER, if you actually need to speak to a human about you account /orders, all numbers listed are non-geo. The full address on correspondence from Naturally Close is listed as:-  Fashion World Ltd, T/A Naturally Close, Griffin House, 40 Lever Street, Manchester, M60 6ES.  Cant find an alternative anywhere, and all requests for an alternative number when calling for customer service, were answered with "there isnt one". With my last call lasting for 49 mins, (most of it in the queue), thats just not helpful!.

We would suggest that you try using one of the numerous Customer services numbers that we have in the database for JD Williams.

As you can see, most of the different Catalogue services are reachable through the same number, 0161 2382000.
Also try the Fashion World entry of 0161 2383587.

As it's such a large organisation, undoubtedly there will be others in the range 2000 - 2009 although some also may be Fax numbers.

I have only today registered onto this site although I have been using it for some time now to find alterative numbers.  However, I have now been receiving numerous call (40+) from a site called Fifty Plus leaving a message for someone to call them and giving a reference number.  I do not want to call them cold on an 0870 number to try to stop these calls and I was hoping that someone a little brighter than me at using a computor could help.

A search of the database for jd williams returns quite a few entries. I believe 0161 238 2000 is the main JD Williams switchboard. 0161 386 2009 is a order/customer services number, answered as "House of Bath", but listed for other catalogues, so they will most probably be able to deal with your enquiry.

I have added an entry for the 0870 1606119 number with the alternative 0161 238 2000. The 0870 number is answered as "Arrears Management Team".

Let me know how you get on, including which number you get success with, I can change the entry if needs be.


Also, if you find any other numbers in the database that either don't work or work and are unverified, or you have a number that you know of that isn't listed, please post on the forum in the Geographical Requests section and I will see that the database is amended accordingly.  :)

I have contacted Fifty Plus this morning and managed to speak to their Fraud Department. Hopefully the calls will now cease but it may take 24/48hrs to go through the system. It is almost impossible to get them to give out an 01number but I have managed to get a couple more for the database.

The 0161 386 2009 number is listed as alternative for many different catalogues even though it is answered as "the House of Bath" with menu options, so I have listed it as the alternative for Jacamo as well.

In general, companies like this operate under different brand names, but it's all the same people taking the calls. Perhaps they've got fed up with calls to the number and will not deal with non-HoB enquiries on it.

I will have a look at the JD Williams entries we have and tidy them up. In the mean time, the number 0800 072 8402 appears to be a direct alternative as it is answered with exactly the same IVR (menu) as 0871 231 2000. This is also the same as 0870 609 9000.

I've tidied up the JD Williams entries. They all have the 0800 number by them, with a note to say that the 0800 is the same menu options as the 0871 and that the 0161 386 2009 number is via House of Bath.

There is a verified entry for Simply Be (0871 231 5000) which gives 0161 386 2009 as House of Bath. Did you try that number and find it wasn't suitable or did you go straight to 386 2075?

See above; I previously identified a few other numbers that may be worth trying.

Dave,  the above number that is in the unverified numbers list, was the first one I tried, and was lucky I found myself instantly speaking to a Customer Service advisor.

I only checked the JD Williams numbers off a month ago (see above). At that time, 0800 0728402 was answered with the same menu as 0871 231 2000 and other 0871 numbers.

Today it is answered with a recording which redirects House of Bath enquiries to 0871 984 2000 and JD Williams enquiries to 0871 231 2000. The same message is also on 0161 386 2009, which was the number I listed for most catalogues and was previously for House of Bath, but reportedly worked for all catalogues.

I have therefore removed the 0800 number and replaced the 0161 number with 0161 386 2075.

Just thought I'd let you know that the 0161 alternatives no longer work -  0161 386 2075.

They just play a message saying that you should re-dial the 0871 number.

But you can now request a call back from within the My Account page of the website.

I tried 2, I can't remember which ones, one said please redial 0871.... the other said "Calls to house of bath may be monitored or recorded".

I listed these JD Williams previously. Forgive me for not checking each catalogue's website now, but the 0871 numbers that were listed against respective titles are those which were published on their websites.

That shown on Simply Be's contact page is 0871 231 5000 and that is what is listed in the database with alternative 0161 386 2090. Have you found that Simply Be publishes the number 0871 231 2000 somewhere and if so where? I can add this to the existing entry if needs be.

It is perhaps worth noting that 0161 386 2090 remains in service; JD Williams having disabled numbers that we have published in the past. Has it had a change of heart and decided to accept that some customers can avoid the premium number?  :-?

Tuesday I tried the 0161 386 2090 that I picked up on the Forum to contact Julipia via JD Williams for a neighbour to cancel her Account but was answered by recording saying 'sales, queries, accounts redial on 0871 number.

Has anyone found a more recent Geo. Number for JDW

JD Williams are in turn owned by N Brown Group, they can be contacted here so your neighbour may wish to ring them and complain, and if they refuse to connect her or give out an 01 number I would suggest she advises she "cannot" call an 0871 number.

Alternatively you could try e-mailing them on her behalf, but I guess you would at least need her account number. More info here

A more pertinent question than "has anyone found…" is "why haven't they posted…?" :-? ::)

I have just spent over an hour going through the entries for JD Williams. One number which was listed unverified against one catalogue title is 0161 386 2187 goes through to a menu with options. 0161 386 2030/3 goes directly to the Enquiry Line.

These numbers were in there waiting to be found! It appears that site users wish to sit around and wait to be spoon-fed. ::)

I did a search of the Forum which was were I got the number I had noted earlier this year. On finding the result as I posted previously, I searched for JD Williams and found the JDW HO number 0161238 2000 which was answered by a lady and on asking to be transfered to Julipia she gave me an 0870 6033603 which I used because it is in my BT Anytime and carried out the required Account Cancellation. I know it is not a Geo. Number as hoped but I was able to carryout the task intended.

Thanks Dave for highlighting the Geo Numbers which I will note, and my apologies, I probably didnt use the Search properly.

Based on previous experience, I think that it is quite possible that these alternatives will be disabled. If that happens then we will have to replace them with the word "unknown" until such a time as a new number is found.

Just to advise the alternative number given for Jacamo 0161 386 2187 now has a redirect recording giving out the number 0871 231 2000 it then cuts you off...

This may also be the case of other alternatives for JD Williams.

Thanks. I have removed this number and replaced it with 0161 386 2091, which answers as House of Bath. Clearly JD Williams are spinning it out as long as possible until it is compelled to give up its premium numbers by the CCR on 13th June.
