Has any got a number alternative for 08457 20 30 40. This website only gives the one for Credit Card Services. I spoke to them this morning and asked them for a number for phoning from abroad and they gave me 448457 20 30 40 which I know will not work. They refused to phone me back as well saying it was an inbound call center only. I am trying to service my current account card.

Why not get them to call you?

On their website, I found THIS PAGE into which it appears you can enter your details and get a call back.  That may be for new customers rather than card servicing though (but it's worth a try).

Better still, change cards - mine gives me 0.8% cashback on all purchases, online acount management if I want it and an 0800 number to call Customer Services.

Thanks for the suggestion but its not Customer Service that I want its telephone banking so that I can pay bills. I may have another look on their website and see if I can pay them online.

You can pay bills online once you have got online banking set up with Halifax.  

You can indeed, and to Bill who said he gets 0.8% cashback on purchases, with Halifax you get 1% moneyback on all debit card purchases on Halifax moneyback accounts. Call me sad, but I work in branch!!

Whats your internal IT Support like?

I have looked through the database but I can not find this number.

Its clearly listed amongst the list of Halifax(HBOS) numbers in the alternative numbers list. Have a butchers '@@'.

Its 0113 2851884. Customer Services. ;)

I did try the number listed for Halifax once, and it didn't seem to be the correct number. It certainly didn't give the same options as the 0845 number.

I've just telephoned Halifax customer services on the alternative number of 0113 2851884 given out in the database, however, they say the number is incorrect, does anyone know of an alternative number.

That's the alternative for the number given to Bank Account customers (08457 203040). Admittedly I haven't tried it for a long time, but I know the alternative number always used to be incorrect. It seemed to be a number for credit cards and not the bank account customer services at all.

If you go to this page click on CONTACT US, then phone numbers,  then "we'll call you" on theleft hand side  they will call you

Thanks for pointing that out. But it might not always be convenient to have someone call you if you are busy at work or whatever.

Anyway, the Halifax site has a whole list of numbers for different types of products, but then it has a section for "international dialling":

For all product areas  - 0044 1133 809 574:   24 Hours
For advice on how to use the Online Service - 0044 1133 851 888:  24 Hours

That might be worth a try!

Note how they disguise a Leeds number by reformatting to make it into an unfamiliar overseas-looking number!

There is also a geographical number for "stocks and shares ISAs":
01904 61 11 10

After the "international numbers", on the Halifax Site, there is the statement :-

"Calls to 0870 and 0845 numbers from BT landlines will cost a maximum of 5p per minute. The price of calls from other telephone companies will vary and you may want to check this with your own telephone company."

I can't see an 0870 number in their list but it is still incorrect.

Following on from the international number 0113 3809574:

• 9573 goes to hold music
  
• 9575 says it's "Bank of Scotland"
  
• 9576 goes straight through to the call centre

Perhaps you can try some more.

So if I dial 0113 3809574 they will put me through to whatever service I need? Or will they argue that I'm not calling from abroad?

I've changed the alternative for 0845 7203040 to 0113 3809574.  ;)
