Title: Frustrating
Post by gbtillies on Aug 26th, 2005 at 9:21am
My little whinge for the morning, so please endulge  ;D

I try to help out on this site as much as I can, and there are those fantastic people that I know are ALWAYS helping out, spending their time delving into the wonders of computer-land to help someone who has posted.

What I find so frustrating is when help has been provided and numbers found yet there is no feedback from the person that has posted.  I know it only happens a few times, I know most people do take the time to say 'thank you' and let us know how they got on, but it is those few individuals that post their request, take the information and then disappear until the next time they need help from this site that stoke me up.

So to those that take the time to give feedback, I say 'THANK YOU' and to those that take up the time to do the leg work and find the requested numbers, I say an even bigger  THANK YOU .

Right, therapeutic whinge done.  Now let me see if I can spend some time helping once more.

Thanks for letting me 'let off steam!'

I completly agree. I've been thinking about it myself as there have been some recently where the requestor hasn't bothered to get back to us. In some cases I've had to do considerable work, such as dialing through 50-odd numbers.

It does make me wonder whether we should have some sort of scoring system like eBay. Why help those who won't be bothered to thank us?

Hartwell Ford, Nottingham and PSA Parts are two such examples.

However, a request for PetLog got a successful result and a thank you!

Another thing, those who start threads for companies/numbers which already have thread(s) running obviously don't search the forums. OK, so it's not that straightforward as you have to change the number of days to search from 7 days to something like 3000 days. But when I point the requestor to the existing thread, very rarely do they post on it.
