This is a 2 step process.

Firstly, if you call landlines, and 0845 numbers, then call pre-dials orange number which is 07792 316447.

When you call landlines, you earn credit which you can use to make more expensive calls, such as 0870 numbers.

To get the best effect, make those landlines calls during the daytime, as you don't get many points during the evening, and hardely any at weekends!!

0845 calls still earn points, but slightly less.

The number is an orange number, and is used as part of the inclusive minutes for cross network.  I also have a "3" phone, and I do it myself.

After calling the orange number, just tap in the landline number you want to call, and the call is then connected, and you earn points for the length of time the call is connected.

You can then use your points, to call 0870 numbers, but not 0844 numbers.

By using just dial on 0870 794 5989, you can make those international calls, by the following method.

Call 07792 316447, then call 0870 794 5989, as your destination number, then once connected to the just dial service, call your international number.

You are now still calling landlines, but a slightly different method, and the credit is used to call internationally, all within the inclusive minutes.

As an extra tip, the free minutes don't roll over.  On the last day of the billing month, call your landline during the day, and use up those free minutes to get extra credit!!

You will be sad to hear that Pre-dials Orange numbers were barred for life yesterday by Orange. They cannot be reached by landline or mobile.
Any reference to them has been removed from there site.

The o2 access number 07730 666890 still works to some destinations and at limited times as shown on site.

Looks like those points I have on my 3 mobile will be pretty useless now, unless they get an 02 number which can be used with points.

I knew they were a little risky from the beginning, and there was a period when the number was unavailable for about 2 weeks, which is why I never left many points in the system.

Though it is no longer relevant unless Pre-Dial are able to introduce the service, could I suggest that Shigaddi's explanation was over-complicated?

Most of the destinations available from his Just-Dial affiliate numbers were also available directly via Pre-Dial itself, using either this or 4 other Orange access numbers.

Inclusive call minutes can be used to call some non-geographical and special services numbers with the following prefixes: 0800, 0808, 0844, 0845 and 0870. Once the inclusive minute allowance has been used up, calls to these numbers will be charged as calls to standard UK landlines at the prevailing tariff. Some exceptions may apply and calls to some numbers may be free of charge.

My wife has an O2 monthly pay with 500 inclusive mins. I was browsing their tariffs tonight and came across the above statement in their 'Online Pay Monthly tariff information' Surely O2 cannot be giving free calls to 0870/0845?

Regards

No they are not FREE because you pay for your inclusive minute allocation.EG:Lets say you had 500 minutes costing you £35 a month the calls would be costing you 7p a min.

Yes they do normally allow calls to NGN numbers out of your inclusive minutes, including Int Dial through access numbers. They also allow out of your inclusive x-net minutes calls to 07744 numbers Intl Access Numbers like Simply-Fones 07744 97 4116 or 07744 97 4333.

On O2 payg online. You can get 100 anytime  minutes x-net if you top by £10,and you get to keep the £10 to use.NGN calls and 07744 calls are included in these x-net minutes ,and in other O2 anytime x-net minute bolt ons.

www.pre-dial.com still have an O2  mobile no which you can use to access some intl destinations E&W,out of  O2 own network minutes.

If you have a package that only allows calls to landlines, and O2 mobiles, then you can use Just Dial on 0870 794 5989 (weekends 0844 570 5989) to make your international call.  Remember 0870, and 0844 are included in your inclusive minutes.

The only mobile supplier that allows you to call 0844/0845/0870 out of your inclusive minutes is o2.You cant call 0871 however.

If you're not on O2 or Orange ...

While 18185 has 5p/min calls to mobiles, use this to call 07744 providers for access to the more expensive available destinations like foreign mobiles.

edit - I was thinking of from mobiles, but hadn't realised that via their 020 number, the tariff is 10p/min - this may still be useful from landlines though

For most foreign landlines, use 1899, 18185 or Bizon; 1 or 2 pence per minute on top of inclusive minutes. Off-peak, use the Pre-dial O2 number as mentioned.

I would certainly agree that Simplyfone is very useful indeed if your mobile phone inclusive minutes include calls to their access number.

Thanks
Daniel

That will be just Orange/O2 contracts and O2 payg anytime anynetwork bolt on,s then!!!

Andy makes a good point whilst 18185 is only charging 5p peak/evenings and 2p weekends to call mobiles from a landline.Combining 18185 with 07744 gives you the chance to make cheaper calls to certain destinations from your landline.

It wasn't quite as good a point as I thought.

I was thinking of this from mobiles as well, but hadn't appreciated that 18185 costs from the 08081 and 020 numbers are higher - namely 10p/min peak

First thing is to forget using the 07744 dial thru numbers
http://www.three.co.uk/BlobServer.srv?blobdir=ImportantDoc&blobfile=price+guide+may06.pdf
077442–9, 077552-5 and 0808130    070 Band 1, 090 Band 4 (per call)   25p per min

0800 / 0500 / 0808 numbers that are not on the THA list  Non-geographical numbers eg 084, 087
Off-peak 1000 - 35p peak and 15p off peak. All other Pay monthly price plans and Pay As You Go 15p*........

Although not free, you could register your phone with 1899, and use their landline access number to make your calls.
It would cost you your inc minutes to call the number, and your card would be billed from 1899. Not free by any means, but cheaper than direct dialing.

However, if you choose that route, check the 1899 site first for costs, as it might be better for you to use an 0871 / 0870 access number instead, at 15p per min (3's charge).

It would appear that 3 have done their best to shut down the way to make cheap calls.
By the way, were you aware it costs your family etc almost 25p per min to call you from a BT landline, which is almost 50% more than to most networks?

07744 is no good as very nice man points out.

Where do you want to call , and is it a Landline or Mobile you are trying to reach. I know an access number that works to certain destinations.

Although not free to all destinations you could use www.teletop.co.uk   (A minimum call charge of  5p applies even to free destinations.)

I think you're more likely to get answers to such a query on the Niftylist International calls on / from your mobile forum:

Thanks for the link, but unfortunately  Page Not Found.
Have anyone checked those services that provide internationals calls? They also provide the access numbers. I checked several, that “allow” calling from free from web browser, but it is nominally free, still they tell you need to recharge your account before making a call. Recently I received the newsletter from some called https://www.callnspeak.com/, as I never searched others, I’m going to try this one. Have anyone heard about it?

Can you advise me the others… maybe more popular and reliable… thanks! ;)

Thats probaly because you have dug up a 10 year old thread. ;)

You dont say whether your calling from a landline or mobile ,whether you have inclusive minutes or not, and  the destinations you are trying to reach. Without that info its difficult to recommend a suitable supplier. :)
