UK Info confirms their address at that postcode, but offers a different number......0870 7741587
Northampton chamber of commerce http://www.northants-chamber.co.uk/member-profile.php?id=11036 offers a box address Special Mail Services PO Box 390 NORTHAMPTON NN3 6YG ............................................................ Found this on the SMS site. * Why do Special Mail Services use an ‘0870’ telephone number? ‘0870’ numbers are in standard industry use and enable calls to be routed anywhere in the UK. We use an ‘0870’ telephone number to safeguard the anonymity of our geographical location to prevent and minimise opportunities for theft. Calls to this number are not charged at Premium Rate. For tariff charges please refer to your telephone service provider. ............................................................. Having looked at their site, I would consider it naive to trust your passport and money to a company that refuses to give their address, nor even an administration address. Their contact page has no way offered to make contact. In fact the only time you see their number, is the 0870 on the booking page. But perhaps you can make contact via the yank embassy http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/sms.html Special Mail Services (SMS) is a private courier agency contracted by the U.S. Embassy London to provide courier services on behalf of the Consular Section. SMS has an office located in the Embassy. The Embassy cannot assume any responsibility for the efficiency, integrity or reliability of the SMS. The service provided is solely a matter between the customer and SMS. ...................................................... Even though the yanks use them, they don't vouch for them. Interesting! I've got voipstunt so it's free. 881 just rings, but then it is the switchboard, and it is 2140 on a saturday 882 has a recorded message, with yet another 0870 offering........... 0870 950 1000 888 just rings |

A few months ago, my Dad applied for a new passport and SMS delivered it via their own postal system, and a note on the back of the envelope stating it has not been delivered by Royal Mail, and if it was wrongly delivered, don't put it back in the postbox, but ring their 0800 number and they'll collect it.
Unfortunately I didn't make note of the 0800 number before throwing the envelope away. |

That 0800 number is 0800 019 7847. As an aside, I successfully used one of the 01604 numbers to speak to a customer services rep; I got through to sales and politely asked to be transferred. |

I have had nothing but brilliant service from this company - unlike so many others they are reasonably fast at answering any queries and also get back to you when they do. Their delivery service options are as acceptable as one would expect . I have had lots of things delivered through SMS and each time they have done what they have said. I thought it would be nice to put a good comment on a site like this rather than only ever seeing negativity.
Another number to try calling is 01604 782952, takes you into their automated system which is better than dealing with a real person |

After two weeks waiting, I called SMS to try and find out what had happened to my passport:
Call Centre Drone: "We tried to deliver to you on the 28th, and again on the 1st" Me: "Well, I was in all day on the 1st. No one rang the doorbell, and I didn't find any card downstairs" CCD: "Oh, we don't leave cards in blocks of flats. Someone might find out we're trying to deliver" It's only fitting I suppose that the Home Office should use such a perverseley kafkaesque company Of course that will be no defence when you are hauled off to prison for failure to carry your mandatory identity card which is sitting in an SMS warehouse somewhere... |

Another irony is the government own Royal Mail, yet alot of their departments are using rival carriers, and TV licencing has stopped using the post office, and send their letters out through UK Mail.

I received a letter from Secure Mail Services to organise delivery of a letter from my bank, providing the 0870 number 0870 950 5730. (The company address is given as Secure Mail Services Limited, PO Box 390 Northampton NN3 6YG). I tried the 01604 782 952 number suggested by davehu, which worked a treat. It is an automated voice-recognition line, designed for re-scheduling delivery appointments. But it worked fine for me - my voice is too deep for many voice recognition systems, and so it proved this time! Instead, I was put straight through to a very helpful operator, with whom I made the desired delivery appointment. Dave |

Another number to try is 0870 264 2806. Whilst it's still an 0870, I got through straight away, whereas I was on hold for aaages with the other number.

As a former emplyee of the company, i really do understand your anger with SMS, and Belive me I do not envy anyone waiting to talk to some one in that call centre. The problem is that you as "customers!" expect more, but SMS dont actually see you the end person as they`re customer, and would prefer it if they didnt have to deal with you at all!!! sad but its the truth! Their Clients, or "customers!" as you will, are quite happy with the service SMS provide, at least the faceless souls that actually run these huge companies from their towers of power, and I am sure you dont have to be a rocket scientist to work out who I am refering!!! After discoviring this board I will check and see for new postings, please feel free to ask questions, I ill try and shed some light!!

:) I was given the number 0871 389 1000 by the passport office and found 0800 019 7847 on here. I rang it Tuesday morning and got straight through to a very helpful man, who quickly told me my new passport would be delivered the next day. It arrived at 14.30. As an aside be very careful with your passport photos mine was passed by the PO and rejected by the passport office, I should have removed my glasses. The 0800 number was on the back of their envelope.

Was unable to enter these new number with the site's web form so am posting the information here.
Company: Delivered Exactly ('DX') Website: http://www.thedx.co.uk/ Type: Private postal/courier Misc: Handles delivery for the Identity & Passport Service (IPS) at the Home Office. Note: This company actively keeps their geographical numbers from the public. While talking with 'customer service' at DX, I requested information to file a complaint with the company. They provided an 0845 number. I requested a geographical number. Was told none were available. Instead of providing me with a geographical number, the complaint department rang me back. Additionally they block their geographical numbers, thus caller ID only displays number 'Withheld.' 0845 600 3613 (Complaints line) 01604 496 798 (Northampton, Head Office) 01753 657 350 (Slough office) |

I cant see how they actively dont give alternatives.
When they give alternatives to there 0844 numbers here http://www.thedx.co.uk/contactus/ and a e-mail alternative to the 0845 number here http://www.thedx.co.uk/customerservice/complaints-procedure/ If you call 01604 496 798 and press star * it goes to the same announcement as the 0845 number. ;) |

Hello, welcome to SayNoTo0870.com and thanks for posting about this. I have joined your posting to the existing thread for DX Group. There were some entries for DX Group already listed and I've taken this opportunity to tidy them up. DX Secure Mail, operated from the Northampton office, has had a number of names over the years including Special Mail Services (SMS) and Secure Mail Services (SMS). It was bought by DX Group and became DX Secure. DX's other services (those other than DX Secure) operate from the Iver office. Earlier this year DX Group aquired Nightfreight. The address given for complaints is the Iver one, along with the 0845 600 3613 phone number: Head of Customer Concerns, DX Customer Concerns 1 The Ridgeway Iver Buckinghamshire SL0 9JQ For this reason, I have made the alternative 01753 630630 which is the main switchboard. The entry says that the caller will have to ask to be put through to complaints. |

Hi all,
I have tried to numbers below. The (Slough office)bottom one has a recorded message to call another 0844 number. The HO number just puts you on hold no matter which options you try. I was on hold for 29 minutes in total and never spoke to anyone. My issue was that the tracking number on the card was scored out and another one written in it's place. The website said that my tracking number and postcode didn't match(!). Hence the reason for my call. Anyone else suffer from this? Expected some important items from Ebay. VERY FRUSTRATED!! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( Company: Delivered Exactly ('DX') Website: thedx Type: Private postal/courier Misc: Handles delivery for the Identity & Passport Service (IPS) at the Home Office. hi there makkauk,
just wanted to find out exactly what's happened here so I can get the database updated. Have you tried the listed alternative for: 0845 600 3613? It shows two numbers: 01604 782806 & 0800 0197847. Do either work and if they don't what message do you get? You advise that the Slough number - 01753 657 350 has a recorded message asking you to call an alternative number? I will check this out and if it's not a viable alternative I will remove it. Please can you let me know about the other two numbers? :) |
Title: Re: DX Group (DX Secure/DX Mail/DX Courier etc) Post by Dave on Jun 1st, 2014 at 1:44am
I've replaced 01753 657 350 with "unknown" as it answers with a redirection message to 0844 371 3335.
