AROUND 400 questions have been asked of the county's police force in the Freedom of Information Act's first year.

Speed camera enquiries made up the largest proportion - 15 per cent - of requests made since January 1, 2005.

The force also said the act had been used by students undertaking research assignments.

Around 60 per cent of requests have been given a full response by Hertfordshire Constabulary.

Others have received part answers where full disclosure may impact on police operations and security issues.

Chief constable Frank Whiteley said: "Our aim is to be as open and honest as possible within the guidelines around FOI and we have been able to respond to a high number of complex and probing questions on a variety of issues."

The WHT made a request under the act to discover what questions had been asked of the county's police.

At the time of our inquiry 12 requests for information had been refused.

Eleven related to obtaining personal or third party information and one was refused for repeatedly requesting the same information about the use of 0845-prefix numbers.
