Title: First:Telecom
Post by lompos on May 1st, 2007 at 8:54am
[edit]by Dave:
This thread continues the old thread on First Telecom here.[/edit]

This is a telco which until recently provided alternative geographic numbers for contacting their customer service. The numbers were 01926 460 30X and are still listed in the database but no longer work. They now only provide 0845 numbers for contacting their customer service. The details are:

first:telecom customer services:

telephone: 0845 215 1640
fax: 0845 215 3857
address: first:telecom PO Box 4360, Warwick, CV34 9DB
email: customer.service@firsttelecom.com
website: www.firsttelecom.com

First:Telecom is a trading name. Two companies (at the same address) are given whose trading name it is:

First Utility plc
19 South Audley Street
London W1K 2NU
Company reg. number: 05070887
VAT number: 867244791

Impello plc
19 South Audley St
London W1K 2NU
Company reg. No: 04558469

Does anybody know how to track down First:Telecom's geographic number?

Some further info. Their physical location is:

Athena House
Athena Drive
Tachbrook Park
Warwick CV34 6RL

This is a building which belongs to Calor Gas who rent one floor to First Utility/Fitst Telecom. The Calor Gas switchboard number is 01926 330 088.

If one rings the Calor Gas switchboard, they can put the call through to the First Utility switchboard who will put it through to First Telecom (ext. 1800) but this seems a rather roundabout way of contacting First Telecom.

Any help would be appreciated.

I link to and closed the old thread on First Telecom as it has nothing useful, apart from the fact that they used to operate from a PO Box in Gloucester.

I'm after some clues as to what the DDI range may be.

calor 01926 reveals several numbers starting 01926 318xxx. I called 01926 318496 and the lady says in her voicemail that she is on extension 8496.

A fax number for Calor is 01926 420609.

The following are not First Telecom's as they answer with voicemail:

  • 311800 private number, answerphone message just gives phone number
  • 311900 private number
  • 310800 (fax)
  • 318800 No answer
  • 318801 voicemail system gives ext # as 8801
  • 319800 (Realtime Consultants)
  • 319900 voicemail system gives ext # as 2900

Dave, thanks for trying. I also tried a few numbers but without success. I summarise below all data that I have. I wonder if there are any other avenues for trying to obtain First Telecom's geog number? I think First Telecom and First Utility are in fact the same company so any one of the two would do.

First Telecom, current 0845 numbers:
0845 215 1640 phone
0845 215 1639
0845 215 1640
0845 215 3895
0845 215 3857 fax
website: http://www.firsttele.com/salesandmarketingcode.htm

The previous geog number of First Telecom, now unobtainable, was 01926 460 300.

The 4 digit access number of First Telecom from BT phones is: 1639

First Utility
0845 215 1800 phone (obtained from the Calor Gas switchboard)
0845 215 5000 phone (from website http://www.first-utility.com/about%20us/aboutus-contact.htm)

The geog number of the Calor Gas switchboard, in whose building both First Telecom and First Utility are located, is 01926 330 088. The address is Athena House, Athena Drive, Warwick CV34 6RL. First Telecom were previously in Gloucester but they are now in Warwick.

I tried a few geog numbers but none of them worked:
01926 311 640 (fax)
01926 311 639
01926 315 000
01926 331 639

Lompos, has the switchboard told you that FT is x 1800? (You mentioned this is your second post).

So have they told you that they are also available on 0845 215 1800?  :-/

Are there any other tennants in the building besides First Utility/Telecom?

I questioned the switchboard, first they said the ext. was 1800 for First Utility but later said that they did not know and gave the 0845 215 1800 number to call from outside.

I am afraid I don't know if Calor Gas have other tenants beside First Utility/Telecom.

Would First Telecom's old geographic number (01926 460 300), which they used until a few months ago, not provide a better clue?

Perhaps they were confused into thinking that it was the last four digits of the 0845 number.  :-/

Wolseley UK have an office in Athena House.

The prefix 0845 215 is allocated to Impello Limited, First's parent company. There are no 01926 numbers allocated to Impello.

I think you can also get through to Calor Gas switchboard by dialling the customer services number, 0800 626626, and pressing 0 when it answers.

It may be that the phone systems for Calor and First are not linked. I have come across some fully serviced offices where many companies reside and they have one phone system for all the tenants (as different companies have similar telephone numbers).

Google shows that there are no 01926 numbers on the First Telecom (firsttele.com) or First Utility (first-utility.com) websites.

If they have not given out their new 01926 numbers, then it's a needle in a haystack. There is one 01926 national dialling only prefix which is 01926 10 and is allocated to BT. Perhaps everyone has a direct 0845 number.

Impello has only one 01/02 geographical prefix and that is 020 8046 dated 09/2003.

For starters, is 020 8046 6666 any good?

If you press * twice you can get through to the top-up and customer services menu. I haven't found any other 020 8046 numbers which are in service.

Impello have the following 08 numbers:

0800 0115
0845 215
0870 216
0871 217

The first one (0800) is only 1000 numbers; maybe there are some on there that aren't publicised but that get through to customer services.

Thanks Dave, that is great. How did you manage to find the 020 8046 6666 number? Impello's London office is in South Audley St which is Mayfair, Central London, and should have an 0207 geog number.

For those who have an account with First Telecom dialling 1639 and then pressing * twice will also do the trick.

Thanks also for adding the new info to the database.

…How did you manage to find the 020 8046 6666 number?…

I searched Ofcom's spreadsheets for numbers allocated to Impello. The only 01/02 geographical prefix is 020 8046. I tried 020 8046 0000 and a few others.

Tried putting four 6s after it and hey presto!

I guess there'll be other 020 8046 numbers for Impello/First Telecom/First Utility. I am currently looking to see if there are any 0800 0115xxx numbers in service, another prefix allocated to Impello.

I've completed my search of 0800 0115xxx numbers (yes, all 1000!!) and found the following:

161 Test call
273 Fax
274 Fax
723 Advises that as of 1 Dec 05 calls to ff nos on Orange will no longer be free and advises to call 020 7965 7965. It then continues with the same recording as 020 8046 6666, as for account no or press ** for menu.
826 Same as 020 8046 6666
936 Same as 723
964 Same as 723
965 Says office is closed and advises to visit FT website (presumably direct to CS)

All other numbers are not recognised.

020 79657965 answers with the same as 020 80466666.

The prefix 020 7965 is allocated to Telstra Europe Limited.

I've amended the database entries for FT.

There is also another freephone number that works at present, 0808 188 5000 but it announces that this number will change shortly to 0800 0115 826.

Thanks for the tremendous work!!
