Post by accies on Jun 4th, 2009 at 3:18pm
The three numbers shown for this company are now unobtainable, and the unconfirmed number is purely for sales.Would anyone know of a number for customer services?

I've removed these two entries:

Humax Electronics Co Ltd       0870 2478800             028 91824983             Customer Helpline
Humax Electronics Co Ltd       0870 7189677             028 91824950             Customer support (bypasses introduction) Fax: (0870 7189678) 028 91812932

All are not recognised apart from 028 91824950 which has a network redirection message to 0870 2478800.

There are numbers on their Global web site, http://www.humaxdigital.com/global/support/servicecontact.asp  but nothing  UK, maybe one of the English speaking countries could help, as it would be cheaper than phoning their now 0844 6690677 number from this page; - http://www.humaxdirect.co.uk/prodCat2.asp?cat=Factory

Humax digital UK; - http://www.humaxdigital.com/uk/support/contactus.asp  gives the following,(note the UK helpline number!), Tel: 0870 247 8800 (UK Customer Helpline)

Also a different address and a fax number on that page, (it seems they are now in Brentford); -
Fax: +44 208 326 6019
HUMAX Electronics Co., Ltd. LONDON:
The Mille Building, 8th Floor, 1000 Great West Road, Brentford, London, TW8 9HH, U.K.

It really annoys me that you virtually get forced to use a premium line to complain about a defective product.I am with TalkTalk, and get all my geographical cals free,so am doubly annoyed.I can understand a little bit where it is technical assistance required, but not for product faults. Why should I have to pay a company to let them know that something I have paid them for,is not working.Rant over. :)

Yes,that's how I'm getting it sorted, and I know from past experience that the staff are very helpful. They are excellent at sorting out an exchange, with no quibbles. However,it's just not the same as speaking to a person.Maybe that's just me.

Having just purchased a Humax PVR there are some more details in the warranty certificate booklet that may assist in a geo number being found.

After Sales Centre Name; - Teleplan
Telephone; - 0870 2478800
Fax; - 028 9181 2932
Address; - Langstone Technology Park
Langstone Road
Havant
PO9  1SA
United Kingdom

There are some numbers in the database,(unverified but do answer as Toshiba laptop repairs/service, so they can be verified for Toshiba), but they are 01206 numbers, Colchester.

I have Googled the name and address and found this number; - 02392 444000, was answered as Teleplan and I asked to speak to someone regarding the product, was transferred but had to leave a message on her voice mail, so will have to wait and see if my call is returned.

Also tried 02392 444096, that went straight to a male voice mail, and I have left another message, they are probably at lunch at this time.

Have just had a call back, 02392 444559, but turns out they only do repairs and cannot help with enquiries, not much point putting the address on the warranty booklet then!

Although he did offer to request the call centre call me, they did so, but 1471 did not reveal the number!

I would also suggest that it is free, but from the country you are dialing from?, in this case Australia. How would one go about dialing the Australia number from the UK, as to my knowledge there are no UK numbers beginning 1800.

The national trunk dialling prefix in Australia is 1, so to call it internationally, it is +61 800 613 011.

In the UK the national trunk dialling prefix is 0, so Austrailian national numbers (area codes etc) start 1.

[edit]The national trunk dialling prefix in Australia is in fact 0 (and not 1), so it's just like in the UK.[/edit]

Whilst it does state -4 hours, the time shown on the clock on that page at the time I writing this message is 05-18 but the actual time here is 10-18. so that makes it -5 hours, or is that due to our clock switching?

If their hours are 9-5 Eastern Standard Time, does this mean that I can call them between 2 p.m.  & 10 p.m using our time clock which as I said above is 5 hours behind?

Actually from that page it looks like it is -5 hours re BST; -

Eastern Time is the Eastern Time Zone of the United States of America (USA) and Canada.  Eastern Standard Time (EST) is 5 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time (GMT-5).

Yep, that is what I called yesterday,(reply #18),and again now, message is still the same, it is Humax but their opening hours are 9-5 Mon-Fri Eastern Standard Time.

The call connected and is free via the computer and VOIPSTUNT, looks like it should be 1ppm using 18185.

We should not need to be doing this if it where not for the greedy ba****ds in this country ripping us off via the phone system.

How on earth can it be cheaper to phone Australia than to call a British company? Answer= greed!

I recently purchased a Netgear wireless router, and needed some information. The number given is, of course, 0844. Looked on this site, found the alternative, tried it but the recorded message stated: for tech support, customer services or to return a faulty item please redial 0844 or wait to speak to an operator.  Complained that I only needed information, not support and was put through to their centre in Ireland. I complained that their Website stated that all support was provided free and was advised this only applied to the US, other countries would possibly be charged for the call. However, it was agreed that this was not what was stated, and the American site has now been changed (call charges may apply).  I do not know how free-phone numbers are formulated around the world but it would appear that many countries do have freephone numbers, including Eire. The UK of course does not.  The person I spoke to advised me I can call any of the phone numbers for basic support given, so avoiding the 0844 number if I chose. (link to this page: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/984.)

This goes to prove that we are ripped off in Britain as I can phone America on my call plan (not on the 1-888 number which is not included, but on their American Geographic number) cheaper than the 0844 number.  Apparently all calls end up at the same place, either India or the Phillapines!  Obviously, the preference is for the 0844 number to be used as you will get immediately to the right department!  It is interesting to note that their Amercan site shows how to access by telephone different countries from anywhere in the world, so does not appear to bother them.

Have just tried that number and receive the following after single ring tone followed by double ring tone; - "the number you have called is incomplete or incorrect please check and dial again", then what appears to be some sort of code, 02001130, have tried this 3 times now and always receive the same message and code number.

Tried 611800613011, and get; - "call is not connected", although when using this number on Saturday, I got; - "welcome to Humax,  we are closed, our office hours are 9-5 Eastern Standard Time"

Tried 0061800613011 and this rings with a single ring tone as against the normal 2 ring tone, then after about 6-7 rings the line just stops.

Remember to plan the time of your call to Australia. You don’t want to wake grandma up in the middle of the night.

Time Difference between UK and Australia:

Without Daylight Savings (GMT) + 10 hours

See Wikipedia article Telephone numbers in Australia

I was wrong! The national trunk dialling prefix in Australia is 0 like in the UK.

However, under notes for Other non-geographic numbers (00, 1) it states "Some of these numbers are dialable from overseas, it is up to the individual owner to set this up correctly (for 13 and 18 numbers at least) (eg +61 13x xxx)"

So it appears that you can call 1800 numbers if the user has set them up to do so in the form of +61 1800 etc.

Perhaps VoipStunt connects to Australia via a different provider during weekdays (certainly in the daytime) that does not allow calls to Australian 1800 numbers. Try calling it via your landline's provider (ie BT, Virgin Media etc).

I have just tried this again still using VoipStunt, number 00611800613011, time 2220.

It connects,(assuming Humax as it did not say), with the message; - "Thank you for calling, your call will be answered shortly, please hold".

Then after 3 minutes another message; - "Thank you for calling, there is no one to take your call, please leave your message after the tone".

Tried this 3 times, but as it is, (if they are 11 hours ahead), 0920 in Australia, maybe they are very busy, but at least for the Aussies, it is a free call, not like the rip off 0870 number for us Brits!

Having some issues with a Humax box I purchased and speaking/emailing Humax I also keep asking them for their geo number in place of 08446698800.

The latest excuse is;- "I have spoken to my manager in the building about this, he has informed me that the number and the servers we use had all been created in Korea and the only number we have that comes straight through to this building is the 0844 number. We switched to this number because we discovered that a lot of call packages within the UK are now support an 0844 number as a free number."

Now I am in the process of replying, but can someone point me to some relevant links so that I can put them straight?

Does anyone have a number for Humax customer service (0844 669 8800)?  There is a suggestion on the 'unverified' database (020 8326 6000) but that will not let you through to Service - option 2 pretends to but then tells you it won't.

I've joined this to the thread on Humax. You could try holding for an operator and then ask to be put through; the submission to the database does say that this has worked previously.

Other than that, the IVR (menu) which is on the 0844 number isn't on 020 8326 6000 through to 6019. 6020 is not recognised (and 6019 is the published fax).

Replies form Humax, (via e-mail), yesterday after me requesting a geo number;-

"Unfortunately this is the only number we have for customers to contact us on.

We have an email service which customers can use if they do not wish to call us."

"We aim to respond to customers emails within 48 hours."

48 hours? that is a joke!

Thanks for joining this to the existing thread; I searched for one before I posted but nothing came up.  Odd.

I have tried holding for an operator and even talking to the sales people - they all say that they can't put one through.

As for their reason for having an 0844 number (that many packages don't charge), it's poppycock, of course.  the contrary is most often the case now, I would have thought - many packages don't charge for 01, 02, 03 calls (as mine does not).  To phone Humax last week cost me 40p for 4'49".

They do seem to answer emails quite quickly but their answers often consist of standard texts - like 'Do a manual channel-search; here's how' (in not-very-good-or-clear language).

Are there any clues in the e-mails as to where they are dealt with? What is the from address? Is there a postal address given? A fax number maybe.

Not really as it still means I am paying a premium rate phone charge.
On the odd occasions I have had to call them,(last year), I got them to call me back on my 0844 number, which surprisingly they did.

This is perhaps a significant clue.

The contact address given on the page linked to by derrick is:

Customer Services Manager,
Humax Customer Services,
PO Box 1056,
St Albans, Herts,
AL1 9QL

OK, so it's a PO Box, but does suggest that we're looking for something in St Albans. It's also worth noting that the number published by Humax itself for the public to call and that given by Humax Direct both start 0844 669. This leads me to think that these may be answered at the same place (and by the same company).

Googling the post code of the PO Box yields nothing I can see which gives any clue other than to confirm it's for Humax. However, a look-up of the registration information for the internet address humaxdirect.co.uk (known as Whois humaxdirect.co.uk) returns:

Quote:
Domain name:
        humaxdirect.co.uk

    Registrant:
        CWNETWORKS

    Registrant type:
UK Limited Company, (Company number: 4652050)

    Registrant's address:
        D9D
        8 Park Industrial Estate  Frogmore
        St. Albans
        AL2 2DR
        United Kingdom

Could D9D be the name of the mystery company we have been looking for?

Its website is ]www.d9d.co.uk. This thread on Digital Spy makes reference to the fact that D9D run Humax Direct.

The contact page for D9D gives:

Unit 7 Park Industrial Estate
Park Street
St Albans
Herts
AL2 2DR

Phone: 0845 434 6099
Email: info@d9d.co.uk

This says unit 7 and the Whois says unit 8, but the rest of the address is the same.

The case study page mentions the following operations:
 • CW Digital www.cwdigital.co.uk Tel: 0844 544 7131 Address is Unit 8 Park Industrial Estate.
 • Nextd.co.uk www.nextd.co.uk Tel: 0844 544 7655 Address is Unit 7 Park Industrial Estate.
 • Digital Stream www.digitalstreamdirect.co.uk Tel: 0845 434 6099 (same as D9D's number) Unable to access website (says "Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)")

Looking for the above (both by name and 08 number) in the database I found this entry:
CW Digital       0870 067 9040       0844 544 7131             0800 0192131

It was previously unverified and I've checked it and all three of these numbers are answered with the same IVR (menu). Options are 1. Place order or have any queries on product range before you buy 2. All other enquiries.

Maybe the 0800 019 2131 number is suitable for Humax enquiries. Perhaps someone can try it and report back.

As for a geographic alternative; we are looking for a 01727 number or numbers for this company. When we crack one, we may get to the alternative(s) for all.

Good work Dave.

I have just rung the 0800 number,(but it is Saturday!)

On answering the voice relays;-

"Welcome to CW Digital one of the UK specialists in high quality LCD TVs and personal video recorders.
To place an order or for queries on our product range, please press 1.
For all other enquiries please press 2.

Pressing 2 the phone just rings, I will try again on Monday during office hours, which is when Humax answers the phone anyway.

I have just called the 0800 0192131 number, I spoke to a chap who informed me it was the sales line for Humax, and whilst they could give general info about Humax products and take sales , they are very limited, (none?), re technical help and referred me to the 0844 number or email help.

The only phone number on their emails is the 0844 but there is a fax number: 020 3014 5353.

I think it about time the alternative number information is updated with a note explaining something along the lines of 'Trade enquiries only, retail customers have to pay much more for their calls'

Please explain your reasoning for making this statement. If you have experience of using this number, then please elaborate. If there is reason found to update (or even remove) this or any entry, then let us know.

At present, the note in the entry says:

UK Head office
Do not select the menu options, wait for the operator - ask for Customer Services
Option for Support & Product Information redirects to 0844 number

Well... because a forum search here indicated to me that many Humax device owners continue to try calling the 'local' number when it is actually dedicated to the 'Trade' and of no use to them. The 0844 number is readily displayed on the Humax website and on other documentation, most here are seeking an alternative - but yes, the text used in my suggestion was 'tongue-in-cheek' but I felt some some kind of alternative might help.

Was there a real need for you to adopt such a hard-nosed attitude to my (first) post here?

Sorry, meant to add that I am the owner of a Humax recorder and yes, I do have experience of calling the 020 number listed here - having been frustrated at the delay involved using emails when the device fails to operate properly...

I am mystified about the comments re the Humax no not working for Customer Services, my husband used it about three weeks ago, well after the poster who had probs on 14/9, followed the instructions in the database & it worked perfectly well, no problems at all being put through to Customer Services so I would hate people to think they have to use the 0844 with no choice.

jakxNo0870, I'm sorry if I came across as brash. I was trying to understand what your reasoning was. I wondered (by your inclusion of "about time") if you were an employee of the company who had been receiving calls from retail customers who you couldn't help but which wasn't said.

The listings are maintained by volunteers and rely on feedback from users. Numbers aren't routinely checked that they still work.

I encourage all users to join the forum and post updates (additions and removals that are required), notes on unverifieds that do work and can be verified.

Title: Re: Humax Electronics

I've removed the 020 alternative and replaced it with "unknown". In the Other Information column I've put a link to this thread.

If you have followed that link, then see previous postings for the information and leads we've found thus far. If you can help with this, then please post here (or you can e-mail me dave {at} saynoto0870 {dot} com ).

Such contribution can be anything and certainly doesn't have to include an alternative number. For example, the name and/or address of the office where calls to the 0844 number are dealt with might be a useful clue. I made a suggestion before as to where calls are answered (based on what I'd found) and if anyone knows any different or can confirm what I found, then let us know.

No worries Dave, please excuse me for almost certainly over-reacting following my previous to-and-fro email dealings with Humax Support.

May I just comment here that this SayNoTo0870 website is wonderful to behold thanks to people like you...  8-)

Just found my Humax users manual & seen that I had written the Customer Service geographical phone number in the back (hopefully it still works?!) 02083266000. I've not phoned it yet as I can only use my landline evenings & weekends, bah!  :(

This number is for the HUMAX office, but when the option for customer support is selected, it plays a message giving the 0844 number. We've covered this before in previous postings on this thread.

As we don't have an alternative for this 0844 number, I've put a note in the database to the effect that the 020 number does not allow access to support and simply redirects to the 0844 number.

Firstly my email to the support department did elicit a reply in less than 24 hours, so that's one alternative...

However, I also phoned the London number and told the person that I was making a pre-sales enquiry about a Humax device and if she didn't connect me to the Service Department I would take my business elsewhere. This resulted in her taking my name and number and the Service Department then *did* call me back a couple of hours later. YMMV :-)

I have had a report that support can be reached by calling the main number 020 8326 6000 and asking for support.

Don't select the menu options for support or Humax Direct as all this does is play a message giving the 0844 number.

Yes this worked for me. I had a Freeview PVR that was not HD TV compatible and they put me through to the correct department to effect a return process. This direct line must have been a big saving as I was on "hold" for a fair time.  :)Thank you.

The new BBC Four HD, CBeebies HD, BBC News HD and Al Jazeera HD aren't available on Freeview in the Brighton area. Whilst this is a generalisation and there may always be good spots, it is the case that people in Brighton in general aren't likely to get these channels.

BBC One HD, BBC Two HD, BBC Three HD, CBBC HD, ITV HD and Channel 4 HD are available in all areas that Freeview is available.
