united kingdom [landline]                                               0844 861 75 75                                    1p per minute
united kingdom [mobile]                                                 0871 999 38 38                                    10p
united kingdom [0845 rate] [landline and mobile]              0844 566 14 14                                    5p
united kingdom [national rate] [landline and mobile]          0871 772 13 13                                    7p
united kingdom [personal] [landline and mobile]                0911 501 60 60                                   15p

of course if i can get it for free, i get for free

i love this site but there will always be some numbers i cant get for free

some numbers will not be well known and many people wont use them

just wondering if there are any other ones, like 0870, 0844

if there is, can you please post some more here

thanks  :)

One of the best ways to find out the cheapest way of calling a particular destination is the MoneySavingExpert.com Call Checker.  ;)

The rates quoted for calling 0844/0871/09 numbers in your first post are likely to be from BT. I believe other landline providers follow BT's pricing except Virgin Media which adds a couple of pence a minute on.

Check pricing information from your provider just to be sure. Let me know if you would like guidance on pricing info for your provider.

0870 and 0845 number are now 'inclusive' with BT land lines depending on which calling plan you are on. (Up to 60 minutes a call)

I am not aware of any mobile company offering the same.

First and foremost, look for alternatives to the 0870 numbers you need to call.

In order to know whether a call is cheap or not, we need to know what the "normal" charge is that we're trying to better. So what tariff is your mobile on and what provider and tariff is your landline on?  :-?
