The contact page has quite a few numbers on and even an e-mail address.

Firstly, it gives the cancellations answerphone as 01249 655500, which also gives us the dialling code. It also gives an e-mail address, Reception@GP-J83007.nhs.uk. Surgeries that have e-mail addresses of this form (ending gp-???.nhs.uk) often use them for staff members and those staff members sometimes post their e-mail address and direct phone number on the internet.

So, a Google of "GP-J83007.nhs.uk" 01249 should bring up those pages. Thanks to the staff for doing this!

The assistant practice manager is Barbara Harris, and she has kindly published her direct number 01249 454504 and e-mail address, Barbara.Harris@gp-j83007.nhs.uk.

One page does say "01249 4545 04 or 00" which is a clue that they have numbers in this range. Indeed, they are even answered by the Avaya's IP Office system.

01249 4545xx:

00 Andy Briggs (Practice Manager)
01 Emma
02 Tina
03 Hathaway Medical Centre "overseas" contact number
04 Barbara Harris (Assistant Practice Manager)
05 rings, no answer
06 Fax
07 HALO Clinic (same as 454545 which is given here)
08 Fax
09 Clinical Research

Let us know how you get on, what you try, what works and what doesn't as this will help us to list a suitable number.  :)

Useful info on how to track numbers down too.  I'll report back when I have more info.

Have you tried any of these numbers malc_b or found out any more information or clues as to what the alternative may be?

I tried the ...03 number above.  I managed to make an appointment and garner some information.  It sounds like all the 01249 4545xx numbers are for ground floor front desk staff etc..  The appointments line is handled by a ~5 person call centre on the 1st floor.  So I don't think any of these numbers is a direct route to 08444 120023 (0844 4120023).

The overseas line, ...03, got me Tina who asked why I didn't phone the 08444 so I gave the real excuse that the line was blocked by the work's PBX.  Tina was able to book the type of appointment I wanted but I got the impression that this was not true for all types.

There isn't necessarily any reason that upstairs will have numbers not in the same range. I did say that 454545 is for the surgery, so that suggests that they may well have at least 50 numbers (from 454500 to 454549).

Thanks for the feedback. I have put an entry in the database with the number ending 03 as the alternative, with a note saying that it's published for overseas callers.
