Title: Wrong Numbers
Post by irrelevant on Jun 9th, 2011 at 9:37am
Hi All. I know I've not been here much lately...

Here's an ironic one, given one of the recommended ways of finding an alternate number is to check other numbers in an apparent number range.

There is a certain GP practice that has published numbers for primary contact and fax that are three numbers apart.  So you would think they are part of a block allocated to the practice.   However, I've got a telephone line that is numerically between them!

We get approximately one call a week asking for the GPs... :sigh:

Since my line is a freebie VoIP line from Sipgate.co.uk, I assume theirs are too.  Cheapskates!

(I only use it as a target for a divert-on-busy on our main BT line.  I keep thinking I should get a different number..)

If their system works, then I wouldn't knock it. It's these 0844 funded systems that not only pass costs on to patients, but are apparently overpriced.

Perhaps you could offer it to the surgery in question if you can find a number for it....
