I think we know OP meant "geographic" rather than "landline." Google didn't throw up anything when I tried - found geo numbers for other Tescos in Chorley, but not this one.

Going out on a bit of a limb here, but I noticed that Tesco only lists one number for the store and pharmacy.

A quick google for the pharmacy comes up with 01257 565447 (source http://www.nhs.uk/Services/Trusts/Pharmacies/DefaultView.aspx?id=3553). However, the number for Tesco Chorley is the same barring the last number.

May be worth a try, please post and let us know how you get on!

Hello and welcome to SAYNOTO0870.COM.

The dialling code local to this address is 01772.

Within the database there are two Tesco entries with 01772 numbers:

This is verified:

Tesco Extra             0845 677 9407       01772 407400             Leyland

This is unverified:

Tesco Homeplus Preston             0845 600 4411       01772 830807             Tesco HomePlus Store - Capitol Retail Park, Walton-Le-Dale

This may be of help as the local numbers for Tesco branches often start with the same few digits.

This is the sort of strategy I would adopt for Tesco. It has been observed previously that the last two digits usually relate to specific departments. We have pharmacy down as 49 and petrol stations down as 45. I would not be surprised if there may be room in the numbering strategy to allow for multiple extensions (with different numbers) within a particular department.

The Tesco Store Locator says that this branch has a pharmacy but no petrol station or opticians, so finding a number for the chemist might be helpful.

Dave are you sure about this? 01772 is the dialing code for Preston, Leyland, Lytham, St Annes. The dialing code for Chorley is 01257.

That is what I thought initially.

Merlin Cycles in Buckshaw Village is 01772 432431. 43 is a prefix used by Leyland BT exchange. Looking at the map, Buckshaw Village is closer to Leyland than Chorley, but there is also a railway line intersecting between it and Euxton. I wouldn't bet against it being the division between one exchange area (and STD code area) so as to avoid the need for the copper to cross it.

I know that a railway line marks one edge of my own exchange's area.

Euxton Car Sales has a Chorley number.
