Title: Advertising 0871 number.

Refresh my memory are advertisers required  to say that the cost of a 0871 call quoted is only from a BT Landline.

See here where West Ham give cost of call and dont do this.

http://www.whufcboxoffice.com/contact.aspx

Its a G7 chargeband and BT would charge 24/7 10.21p per minute to call it and a set-up cost of 13.1p are they required to give full info.

0871, 0872, 0873, 090x, 091x and 098x numbers as well as 118 xxx directory enquiries are regulated as premium rate numbers by PhonePayPlus.

Their site should give you the exact regulations.

Not sure if 070 numbers are also covered.

I had already looked on Phone Pay Plus site to no avail ,apart from cost of of calls should be made clear.

Since posting have found this advice from CAP on how to promote number.

"Calls cost x plus up to Xppm from BT Unlimited Weekend Plan. Mobile and other providers’ charges may vary”.

With over 200 different providers the advice quoting only BTs price seems pathetically inadequate to the point of being completely useless.

@ catj, indeed to the point it would make more sense to say.

"calls cost a Minimum of 10p per minute plus your networks call set up fee, please check with your provider for more information"

As BT has about 49% of the fixed voice revenues and all the other companies have 51% between them, (well they did in the first quarter of 2011); I can not see the problem of using BT as a example.

I agree but using the term as mentioned by CJT-80 to better highlight the price is at least 10ppm is better than calls cost 10ppm.......

There is no question that the present situation is unsatisfactory. Arguments about what type of unsatisfactory information should be presented are made academic in the light of Ofcom proposals to correct the situation.
