Title: AkzoNobel/Dulux
Post by CJT-80 on Mar 21st, 2013 at 3:28pm
Just wanted to confirm that: 01753 550000 can be used instead of 0844 4 817 817 which is the main number given by Dulux/AzkoNobel to contact them on.

You are presented with an IVR menu to navigate.

The other alternative I have not tried which is listed against an 0870 number in the main database.

:)

Thanks. I've updated the listings for AkzoNobel. The customer services alternative is 01753 550555 and the switchboard is 550000. The latter has an option to be put through to the former.

There is also 0800 0522121, this has worked for years,(and still does as I just tried it), despite the recorded message saying the number is changing to the 0844 one, they tell you to update your records then transfer you.

Thanks derrick. I've added this number to each of the entries for AkzoNobel brands.

Title: Sikkens (AkzoNobel).

Sikkens (AkzoNobel).

There are various numbers for this company in the database, (one of which is 0844 4817817), none of which work except:

0333 2227070 and 01753 550000, both of which take you straight to a menu.

Good Afternoon derrick

At present due to a PC upgrade I don't have access to the Database to update this number, but I will do so as soon as I have the access again.

For the record as you have noted the official number given by Sikkens is: 0333 222 7070

Thanks for advising of this.  :)

Just to advise two things,

1: I have joined Sikkens/AkzoNobel with the Dulux post (as they are part of AkzoNobel.

2: I have updated the database with the new/updated numbers for the AkzoNobel brands  :)

Afraid not, if you put Sikkens into the search box it gives out all of the numbers:

0870 242 1100      0844 481 7818      0333 222 7070      0800 0522121
Technical advice Switchboard: 01753 550000.

Only the 0330 number and the 01753 numbers work.

Same if you put the 0844 number into the search box.

Put Sikkens into the search box and the 0844 & 0870 numbers still come up.

Good Morning derrick,

The database is designed to have alternative numbers, therefore IF someone searches for Sikkens using an old 0870 number that they have on an e-mail or document it will then show up the 033 alternative number they can now call.

If those numbers were removed (which is what I assume you are suggesting) then can you ONLY search for Sikkens when you type in Sikkens...

No need to apologise, following a chat with Daniel we have decided to remove all references to the OLD 0870/0844 numbers.  Most people should search for the company name.

I am sure this will work out better.  :)

I was also going to make a similar point, but didn't get round to it.

The database originally gave unofficial cheaper alternatives for official expensive numbers.

We are now in the position that many of those expensive numbers have been replaced by cheaper numbers which are, crucially, listed on the official website of the organisation being called.

In some cases the old numbers remain in service in parallel, and in other cases the old numbers have been taken out of service.

In many cases, the old numbers continue to be promoted on multiple third-party websites and on paperwork that will never be updated.

Should the database continue to list out of service numbers and their replacement, or just the replacement?

If an organisation has only 03 and/or 080 numbers, adequately advertised on the official website, should there even be an entry in the database?

It's a very difficult position to be in to be honest.

On one hand there are numerous companies who now provide 01/02/03 numbers to contact them on, but on the other there are still many who potential feel it unnecessary to make any changes to their contact numbers.

I guess we shall have to see how things go with regards to the general direction of the SNT0870 Database.
