Carlisle City Council announced in September 2013 that their payments line was going to be changing from an 01228 geographic number to an 0845 non-geographic number on October 16th.

The new 0845 number costs up to 12p/min (plus 15p connection fee) from landlines and up to 41p/min from mobiles.

The 0845 number is especially expensive from a mobile, whereas an 03 number would be inclusive for very many callers.
