Title: RAC 03 Number.
Post by bigjohn on Nov 24th, 2013 at 4:28pm
I saw  a new RAC Patrol Vehicle today and noticed that the 0800 Number shown on the vehicle,s has now been prominently replaced by a new 03 number. 0333 2000 100.

First time I have seen them advertise 03 on vehicles. I know they have been using 0333 2000 999 for mobile users to contact them when breaking down.

I received my latest RAC card about a month ago but hadn't noticed any 03 number so checked and there are only the usual 0800 numbers and 0844 for Members Enq. same as usual.  I will have a look on their site as there are different 0800 numbers for Accident and Breakdown.

I have just also checked the papers in the same envelope and nothing is mentioned anywhere for mobile users. >:(

I will have to write it on with marker when checked for use if necessary.

Thanks bigjohn to letting everyone know when RAC apprear to want to keep it a secret. :)

Also on the same page:

Quote:
0870 1650973 ²

² Calls charged at local rate.

Where do these stupid ideas come from?

I have posted on the Barclays 0844 thread regarding the 'National Rate' quoted as charge rate, which also the same quote I have already posted on the RAC Forum.

I am afraid bigjohn I dont have Internet when out in the car and my mobile is a simple PAYGO for Emergency use only, therefore I would be looking at my Card for numbers or Contacts in the phone, so I will be changing those numbers now to the 0333.

Thanks again for your brilliant announcment where RAC have failed completely  ;D

I have just dialed the 0333 2000 100 number that bigjohn saw on a 'New' RAC van and can confirm that this number connects with options for Insurance and cant remember the other one but option 3 was for 'other infor' or something and when answered I asked the gentleman what the 100 ending number seen on a van was for he said it was 'Customer Services' but can fiind nothing on the RAC Site.

I called it before posting and i recall option 1 was for if you had broken down, and needed recovery.

This is excellent news, and the fact that the 03 number is given on the side of vans rather suggests that it will be adopted as the main number, if indeed it already hasn't been.
