In breach of Govt Guidelines they happily promote an 0845 number on their site, and all over the media.Despite the fact they have had nearly year now to sort things out. :o

Happily though, click that link and scroll down and you'll find a "What's wrong with this page?" text box.

Obviously, it's intended for technical issues but it's available for comments such as, "Your 0845 numbers are in direct contravention of government guidelines re the use of 08 numbers.  They should be 03 numbers by now" or similar.

If everyone reading this thread does that, perhaps, just perhaps .........

In fact this number has been changed in line with the same policy applied across the DWP. (The primary number is now the 03 equivalent, but with the 08 retained, being covered by a recorded message on calling it.)

Part of the change has been to refer only to the 03 versions on websites and other publicity. Clearly there has been a slip up in this case - both on the website and in briefings distributed to the media.

When I saw this Thread I had a look at my WF Letter very recently arrived to check the contact number which is shown as 0345 XXXXXXX but below is Textphone for Deaf/Hard of hearing ONLY 0845 6060285

I have noticed on a lot of other Gov and Borough Sites that the Special Number for Deaf etc always seems to still be 0845, why would this be, is there a Central Organisation that supplies this Service across the board that various organisations can apply for. if so who are they?

A textphone can be any number they wish to use, some  Govt Departments  and local authorities already have 01/02/03 textphone numbers.

EG:

In this particular case they could have overlooked it. :o

With regards to the Textphone number provided there is an alternative 01 number.

It does state for Oversea's use, but then it's worth calling.

Interestingly as of today the website still show's the 084 number...  :-?
