Title: Surrey Trading Standards & Checkatrade 0845
Post by bigjohn on Jul 12th, 2015 at 12:59pm
No access charge etc being given for the 0845 number used by them,

and surely Trading Standards should know better and not be involved in the use of a 0845 number.

Better still perhaps they can be encouraged to get the up to date phone number for Checkatrade?

As they now seem to use an 03 number.. http://www.checkatrade.com/Contact/

I have e-mail Surrey CC to advise them of the change.

:)

It's amazing what a little bit of feedback can do... Surrey Trading Standards - CheckaTrade

Seems they have now updated the number for CheckaTrade.com  :)

It appears they are a little confused themselves though!

Quote:
Call charges

Calls to 03 numbers from any network will cost no more than those to 01 and 02 numbers and count as part of any call package. The cost of a call to an 0345 number will depend on the network. Please check with your provider. BT customers may be able to call 0345 numbers for free.

Or did they just forget to delete that wording when they changed the 8's for 3's in that paragraph?

Oh well, I tried - but they appear not to understand the simple suggestion that they delete the last 2 sentences of that paragraph!

I hadn't even noticed it,

I previously e-mailed them and got a reply back, I will e-mail them again myself and point out the error.  Perhaps a two pronged approach may kick them into touch

:o

The problem does not seem to be confined to Surrey CC

See: http://www.suffolk.gov.uk/community-and-safety/trading-standards-for-consumers/what-is-the-suffolk-trader-scheme/

You would have thought checkatrade would have told them.
