At the low end  (084x) enforement is done by the ASA. Is there any case where the ASA has taken action against an infringer? Or for that matter has Phonepayplus taken any actionat the higher end (087x, 09)?

ASA has two routes to resolution.

One is an 'informal agreement' where no details are made public.

The other is a 'formal adjudication' where the case details are published in full on the ASA website.

A search of cases on the ASA website fails to find a single adjudication on incorrect or missing call costs since 1 July 2015. There are only a handful in the previous decade.

My 'solution' has been to change line providers and, now, I can make inclusive 59 minute calls to 0845/70 numbers (they're included in my £8/month calls package along with 01/02/03 and calls to UK mobiles).

If you use your inclusive allowance of calls to 0870 numbers to call a dial-through provider, you can also make calls to:
- UK mobile numbers starting 071-075 and 077-079,
- non-geographic numbers starting 084, and
- non-geographic numbers starting 087 with a Service Charge of up to 10p per minute
at no incremental cost.

PlusNet specifically excludes internet and dial-through 0845/70 numbers (although how they'd know every one is beyond me).

For now, I'm happy with 01/02/03/0845/0870 and UK mobiles being included.

The bonus is they also allow 18185 (although their freephone or 020 access numbers would work if they didn't) for my wife's calls to her sister in Spain.

Hi Heinz,

Have you thought about using Callsdiscount (or Callstunt) for you wife to call her sister in Spain ? - It is via an 01 access number so unlike 18185 there would be no additional charges for you.

I've amended the Orchid program now to dial Spanish landline numbers via 0161 311 31111 - an inclusive call on my Plusnet landline and 0p/minute international charges!

OK, only 40p or 50p twice a week saved - but it all adds up!

The way CallsDiscount layout their numbers is very poor,

I have noticed you have one to many 1's...

The number is: 0161 311 3111 (it's a Manchester dialling code)

I'd noticed that (Callstunt list their number with one too many 2's as well) but, as I needed to insert a pause at that point in my Orchid program, I put the extra 1 in anyway.

It works a treat!

Oh I see... I always use a * for a pause... or a #..

But that makes sense.

Oh well, that didn't last long. They've now changed the dial-through number for Spain to an 0843 one - so it's back to 0808 1 703 703 for those calls for me then.

It has to be a # on an Orchid LCR (# = 1 second pause)
