Does anyone know why The Equity Release Council (funded by the government, I think) still only has 0844 6697085 as a number?  At least they could have an 03 number so that people could use their inclusive minutes

That may be because the ERC state

The fair telecoms campaign believes that a 0844 number is wholly inappropriate for an organisation such as this. We also note that it is in breach of CAP/ASA regulations by soliciting calls to a 0844 number without advising callers of the Service Charge of 5p per minute, from which it benefits, and the fact that callers will also incur the Access Charge set by their own telephone service provider (currently of up to 55p per minute).
