I was looking up a possible Travelodge booking today and saw that still used 0871 numbers for contacting their hotels. This is still just about legal but there was no statement of call costs anywhere on the web page so that's breaking the rules.

After you've booked they give you an 03 number.

Presumably the 0371 number is the matching number for the original premium rate 0871 number?


Has there been any progress since this was published, more than two years ago?

Interesting, looking at their Help Page, if you click "Contact Us" and then "cancel a booking" the pop up window gives an 0371 number for Central Reservations.  Has anyone called that number to book a reservation?  ** Note that there would be a £2.50 non refundable booking fee **

Bookings made through the 0871 Central Reservations line are subject to a non-refundable booking fee of £2.50 per call as well as the 13p per minute Service Charge, and the latter forces the caller to also pay an Access Charge of up to 65p per minute. Travelodge get paid twice, and the caller'e phone company also walks away smiling.  Madness.

Clicking on Help on the bottom right hand side takes you to https://travelodgesdo.force.com/support/s/ then clicking contact us takes you to https://travelodgesdo.force.com/support/s/contact-us

If you then see on the right hand side Need Answers Fast? You get Cancel a Booking, click it and this appears

Ah, so so far buried and so far removed from where the premium rate 0871 numbers are mentioned as to be invisible and rarely discovered.

I just booked and have noticed something very odd.

On my SCREEN it gives the travelodge hotel phone number as 03719 846446   but as soon as I click print to send it to a printer or even to my phone it morphs into Tel: +1 871 984 6446  which looks like a USA number
