Sky 705 Menu: 1) Sky Broadband/Talk orders 2) Questions relating to switch to Sky

I just phoned Sky to find out about the See, Surf and Speak offer using 01506831705 (above) and got through to the department no problems.  I wanted to find out if I could get a better deal on my phone than I have at present with TalkTalk and first of all spoke to a foreign man...  he put me onto a colleague who was Scottish and she was extremely helpful indeed.

She explained that the offer I was looking at was for the basic Sky Digital Package and that as I am on the whole kit and caboodle I'd be best to stay on that one I have at the moment.  I've taken the phone package cos for the same anytime phone calls as TalkTalk it's only £5 which means I'm saving over £20 a month when I give that up!

She was soo helpful and polite and when we finished the call, she told me to "have a nice day"... that's a first for Sky isn't it?

So the geographical numbers work.... it's best  So thanks again... now I'm off to try to get a service call... wish me luck! Grin

The number should have been 01506 421705. The prefix for those numbers on that list is 01506 421. I've amended the post to make it clearer.

Smiley Have just used the ***739 option to get through to 'Pay once watch forever' service sign on.  It was the wrong number, but they transferred me to the right Sales dept.  Many thanks for the info.

Phoned SKY on 01506 831701 this morning. Got straight through and was immediately transferred when I stated the nature of my call (to drop the Movies package).  All dealt with very efficiently and total call time was less than 4 minutes.

Recently I have been using 01506 831781 as an alternative to 08702 404040 for the last few times I have had to call Sky; it has been working fine.

Except this morning: I tried the number on 3 separate occasions and I keep getting cut off after a few rings. I even tried not entering my number when prompted.

Method 1: Dialed 01506 831781, "To help us with your call, enter your number", <entered number>, [ring ring]x2, [click, continuous tone].
Method 2: Dialed 01506 831781, "To help us with your call, enter your number", <waited>, "To help us with your call, enter your number", <waited>, [ring ring]x2, [click, continuous tone].

I started to wonder if Sky were blocking calls from my number when I used the geographical number. To test this theory, I redialed, except this item I prefixed the geographic number with 141... and yes, I got through as I used to on the geo number.

Has anyone else experience similar problems to this?
Do Sky actively persue people who don't use their 0870 numbers?

Sky Customer Services - 01506 831781

Evenings and weekends are when my CPS calls package gives me free UK 01/02 calls of up to 90 minutes - so, just now, I used 141 01506 831781 to ring Sky (I needed to pair a viewing card to a new STB).

When the automated system asked, I entered my BT Broadband Talk phone number (which Sky know nothing about and which is not the line connected to my STB) and got through within a minute to a female with an Indian accent in a very noisy call centre (very clear line with no call delay so I am unsure whether she was in Scotland or India).

She asked me for my phone number but I explained I did not give that to BSkyB and offered her my Viewing Card number instead.  She accepted that and checked my details before I was able to make my request.  She advised that the card had been paired to the new STB and would be activated in "2 minutes to 4 hours."

It was activated in 2 minutes.

Hi - I just called the 01506 831781 number and if i typed in my correct phone number i was disconnected but the second time around i miskeyed (quite accidently) and was put straight through   Wink.

Def seems like sky are dying to get exisitng customers to use the 0870 number and hope unrecognised numbers are new business.

Anyway, 1 free (inclusive minutes!) 3 minute call and my package is down from £38 per month to £16.  They didn't even try to offer me any incentive to stay at a higher package.  Maybe i just sounded so convinced that was what i wanted to do  Smiley

I'm on the highest package and when I phoned I was told the new deal is not the full one so it was pointless pursuing that option.  I went onto Sky Talk and managed to cut my call bills down from £25 to £5... but that's only if I use a geographic number... so they offer you FREE calls ANYTIME... but want you to use 0870....  I don't think so... we're cleverer than them aren't we? I just called Sky through the 01506831781 to try to talk to someone about my Sky Broadband. Although that number was not for Broadband, the lady there politely directed my call to the relevant customer service centre, and a very nice guy called John answered my call. He was so helpful, I was almnost reluctant for him to direct me to another department after I had resloved my broadband issue. Grin

That was so much better compared to the 01506421753 ('Customer Care') I had tried prior to this, where I encountered this woman from the broadband sales department, and all she could tell me was, 'I can't help you' and refused to direct my call to someone who can. Instead she keeps telling me to call the 0870 number.  Angry

Tried these numbers and got redirected to 0870, but had success with above, but ending 805.  I guess with sky your trying to hit a moving target.

Hi,
I have just been scrolling through the things each and everyone is trying to be able to connect to Sky without paying premium rates. It seems that Sky have blocked all the numbers listed at the present time so they can get max cash out of each caller by forceing you to use the 087 numbers.
I did eventually get trough on the Eire number : 00353 818719852. You can use this number to phone Ireland at 2 p per minute : 08444840800. When you hear a reply to say this is the cheap service, dial the 00353 etc immediately and you will be connected. You will be asked for your home phone number and dialing code, but that is fine, they don't know where you are telephoning from. It worked for me today Tuesday 6th Nov 07. JohnP.
