I called 01506 421884 and got thru pretty quickly.
Managed to upgrade my Sky Digital to Sky + HD for a one off payment of £69 and then £32 (£22 Sky HD MIX + £10 for HD) per month, thereafter.

I just tried 01506 421844 and got through to a lady who could advise me on having Sky broadband. She didn't ask me where I got the number from, by the way!

As long as you didn't tell her what number you were using, there is no reason for her to ask. Anyway, it is not a good idea to let these companies know that you are using a geographical number, as they may disconnect that number.  Just to let you know there are two members on this forum that I know of, who work for Sky.

Yes indeed.  If you ever get asked, "What number did you call?" always reply, "Sky" (or whatever company you're calling).

If they get persistent, say something like, "0844 something or other, I can't remember now" and if they get really persistent, give them the full number you should be calling and then just maintain your "What are you on about?" position.

After years of ignoring govt. guidelines & RIPPING OFF Council Tax payers using 0845 numbers, Essex County Council changed to 0345 numbers on 2 November 2015

I've just used the 01506421884 very successfully myself and spoke to a really nice courteous Scottish gentleman, who sorted an awaited refund out for me straight away.

Thank you so much for posting that very handy number

Just tried the 01506 421726 number only to get an automated response that the service has been disconnected, however 01506 831006 works perfectly well.

Tried that one this morning and it doesn't work any more, however 01506 831006 did work. Seems they are very hot on closing down non-revenue generating numbers.

In my opinion that's a waste of time as the staff at Sky do actually know you have come in on a direct non geographic line but for now it is tolerated.  Those at the coal face in the call centre do not refuse to take the calls or close down the geographic lines. Only their senior telecoms managers do that.  No doubt one of them is even subscribed to this thread.

I was speaking to Sky about a variety of matters related to the difficulty of desubscribing a few months ago and finally mentioned their costly use of 0870, whereupon I was told "but you called us on the moneysavingexpert number". Shocked

Maybe you should think about putting 141 before dialling the number. Yes you are right, there are two members of staff that I know of, who subscribe to this thread.    Smiley

How does dialling 141 before the geographic Sky number help?  Its surely the number one is dialling in on that alerts Sky staff to the fact that you have not called in on the officially authorised number and not the one you are calling from.

Or are you suggesting that Sky will claim you are in violation of their terms and conditions and impose a surcharge on your account if they can prove you did not call in on the officially blessed 0844 number?

And are you one of those two members of staff at Sky who are subscribed to this thread by the way. Wink Roll Eyes Lips Sealed
