Consumer Editor David Derbyshire warns readers about the cost of calling 0870 numbers. The message is slowly getting through to people. John

Quite a feat that, the powers that be must have let it slip through the net!

The Telegraph is the worst culprit at 0870 - look at the add opposite - when almost all their advertisers have gone over to 0800 they continue with their "Readers Offers".

Did you notice the mistake in the article?

"BTs Together Option One costs 5.5 pence an hour, an 0870 call costs 7.5 pence".

Dear Sir,

This article is factually correct but very misleading - possibly due to a typesetting error - It says, "BTs Together Option One scheme charges 5.5 pence per hour. An 0870 number costs 7.5 pence."
The implication is that dialling 0870 costs only 2 pence more, when in fact the cost is 7.5 pence per minute or £4.50 per hour.

They do not put it up on their website until tomorrow!

It is too long to quote as it is virtually the whole article.

Basically it quotes some of the "flood of letters of letters from angry readers". (Re: 0870). 0ne of which mentions this site.

Hope to get hold of it tomorrow, then I will put it up.
