In order to change gas supplier you need a meter point reference number.  You must get it from Transco on their hotline number, 0870 601 1102.  I have tried the alternative numbers suggested but they insist I have to call that number.  Don't you think that this is outrageous?!!

Actually I am new to the house so didn't have a bill. But you gave me the idea of phoning the current supplier British Gas who were more than willing to supply the number.  So thank-you.
