Tks orsonkart.
Now if we can just persuade HM IR (sorry, HMRC) that it is +44 29 20XX XXXX for Cardiff and not + 44 292 0XX XXXX and so on. No wonder their new NI numbers are all over the place.
Yup, I know, pedantic; but overall it can help callers (since Ofcom does not).

But why are they only shown as International numbers and also only shown in International +44 format with no 0 before the UK part of the number (so making Jo Bloggs think he can't call them) when they are in fact just Geographic Numbers that anyone can use.

It seems to me the Inland Revenue is still clinging to the myth that 0845 is "local" for uk callers Surely this is the next high level question to be raised with HMRC's management and/or our MPs?

Don't forget that after Febryary 2008 0870 will cost the same as 01/02 number and be part of unlimited 01/02 call plans but thanks to Ofcom 0845 numbers will not. Shocked Angry Angry Angry

After years of ignoring govt. guidelines & RIPPING OFF Council Tax payers using 0845 numbers, Essex County Council changed to 0345 numbers on 2 November 2015

Less of an Oops than Messrs Inland Revenue have made of their telephone arrangements.
