Thought that if there are any cricket fans out there, they would be interested in the club's new number.

Essex
Sussex County Cricket Club - 1p/minute 0844 number
Reply #1 - Jan 13th, 2008 at 5:29pm

Now that IS impressive.  Changing from an 0871 number (probably 10p/minute but I can't find it on BT's list at the moment) to a g8 rate (1p/minute) 0844 number!

OK, not as good as a geographical number but a good move nevertheless.

After years of ignoring govt. guidelines & RIPPING OFF Council Tax payers using 0845 numbers, Essex County Council changed to 0345 numbers on 2 November 2015

Yes, their old number is 10p/min, and indeed their new number is only 1p/min. HOWEVER, it should be pointed out that their new number will still cost up to 25p/min from a mobile (down 10p from 35p/min with the old 0871) but still not as good as a geographic.

If it has to be non-geo, why not 03?

Would that not end up cheaper all round.

I cannot believe that those on non-inclusive landline tariffs really appreciate the club paying to receive their calls to save them money, when it also pays to receive calls from others, whilst they also pay more.

The other question is - if they had stayed on 0871 would the club have become members of phonepayplus before the start of the season?

cum on u bears!!
