Had occasion to need to contact Samsung about a fridge/freezer this morning and found that they publicise their 0845 SAMSUNG (0845 7267864) number the most but, refreshingly, the following is on their website:

Quote:
If you need to call us from overseas, or prefer not to use 0845 SAMSUNG (7267864), you can call +44 (0)1932 454358.
Call costs vary - please contact your provider for details.

Can they be added to post #2 ('Reply #1') please (the number's already in the database).

After years of ignoring govt. guidelines & RIPPING OFF Council Tax payers using 0845 numbers, Essex County Council changed to 0345 numbers on 2 November 2015

To Dave, and some of the others who's names I cannot remember... I must commend ANY provider who has either a Geographic (01/02) number or a new 03 number as apposed to the gastly 08 numbers.

I used to work for Richer Sounds (RS) and I am aware they moved their CS Department to new premises, which could co-inside with the move to 03 Numbers.. however having 01/02 numbers for the stores made more sense to me.. as some were also Numonic.

Just 2 quick notes: I notice BT have included an 03 number as apposed to calling their FreeFone 0800 numbers have only found 2 so far. Customer Services for Broadband and Landlines. Broadband : 0330 123 4567 / 0800 111 4567. Landlines: 0330 123 4150 / 0800 800 150 or 150 from a BT Landline.

Also when renewing your Motoring Tax they have an 03 Number : 0300 123 4321 (however the website and some included paper work sent to my Dad includes the 0870 Number: 0870 850 4444) I guess it takes time to reprint ALL the info sent out.

Shall I add these to the Database?   Smiley  Smiley

No. I will do that. It's good that BT has set-up the 0330 numbers for line faults (150) and broadband faults.  Smiley

Where did you find out about 0330 1234 150 ?

Linky: http://tinyurl.com/yag698r It's such a long address I decided to shorten it, or you can preview it : http://preview.tinyurl.com/yag698r

I am sure if someone was to click through the contact departments more have 03 numbers, but I just picked those 2...

I stumbled accross the Broaband ones while helping a friend..

Did you see my post about Richer Sounds?

I think this sites amazing, and am starting to post a lot more.

With a nickname that sounds like the model name of an amp, we might have guessed a connection with RS. Excellent business.

A warm welcome to the forum. It may be worth putting a comment about BT supporting mobile callers in this thread.

Hi SCV,

thanks for the heads up... being new to these forums how do I make my URL's like the link you gave me? Coloured and a word instead of a link?

The easy way to copy what anyone has done in a posting is to click on "quote". This shows the posting as it was coded. You can simply note what you see and then go back to the previous page, rather than posting a reply. Inviting you and everyone else to do that is probably easier than trying to explain the particular technique for doing normal style hyperlinks.

There is also lots of stuff about the syntax for posting in the Help.

Yes. I noted Richer Sounds' 0330 numbers in reply #39 of this thread in October. It says that if the store called is busy, then the caller will be directed to the central call centre, which might be why they use the 0330 numbers.

The "Preview" feature renders the entered posting as it will appear. There should be no surprises after clicking "Post"!

OK - hands up - I sometimes forget to spell cheque, or have to modify after posting because what I have written is too easy to understand. Wink

Cheaper calls to workpermit.com London Office

03 June 2010

http://www.workpermit.com/news/2010-06-03/workpermit/cheaper-calls-london-office...

<<
We are pleased to announce that the main contact number for the workpermit.com London office is now 0344 991 9222.

Please note that the only difference between the new number and the old number is that the second digit "8" has been replaced with "3". If you are phoning from outside the UK the number is +44 344 991 9222. The previous number 0844 991 9222 still works.

The new 0344 number has the following important benefits:

    * It is generally cheaper to phone the new 0344 number than the 0844 number.
    * If you are based in the UK 0344 calls should be in your inclusive minutes in your monthly mobile or landline call package.
    * It may actually be free depending on your call plan to phone a 0344 number. For example it is free on a Skype monthly telephone call plan.

We are confident that based on feedback from clients and prospective clients that this change will, for many of you, significantly reduce the cost of phoning the workpermit.com London office.

Gudman,

it was previously 08457 711 711 , pity they didn't simply change it to 03457 711 711 would of made more sense!

Never mind, at least they have

The new number covers NHS Blood and Transplant, a combination of what were previously two separate services.

I have been told that there was a long debate about whether to use one of the two previous numbers in its 03 form (as suggested), have two separate 03 numbers or adopt one equally memorable new number. Arguments about which number(s) to use, including consideration of a variety of possible new numbers, actually delayed a process which had already been going on for a very long time.

One can see that there may be merits in all of the alternatives, however I am reluctant to express a view about whether or not the right decision was made. (I do not even know which alternative new numbers were available!) As suggested, let us simply be grateful that these arguments did not prevent the project from finally being completed, after sterling efforts by their telecoms manager. I believe that special hero status is due here, for having led the NHS in the move to 03.

I hope that nobody will confuse this private company with The UK Border Agency, which uses a combination of 0300, 0845 and geo numbers. Many are concerned about the way in which companies like this make money offering services which are available for free (or at least at an overall lower charge) from official sources - a slightly cheaper telephone call may only be the start of a much more expensive, although probably fully legitimate, process.
