Where exactly did you get the 090 number from? I just ask as I typed in Italian Passport into a search engine and immediately found an Italian (but in English) link and UK numbers the link is here

Please let us know where you found the other number. I suspect it's a 3rd Party.

EDIT: It's the VFS Global Centre as noted here, however the helpline appears to be suspended.

I would therefore recommend using a central number or see here: regarding a new number that appears to start on 2nd March 2017.
