Title: The Dept of Work and Pensions. (Pension Forecasts)
Post by acezing on Nov 8th, 2006 at 12:17am
I applied for a pension forecast recently. I had to call a 0845 number to get it.It arrived today, with it came a booklet entitled  " Understanding Your Pension Forecast ". In it on page 32 they mislead people by saying.

"Where we refer to numbers that begin with 0845,calls from BT Landlines are charged at local rate.Charges for calls from mobile phones, cable and other network providers may be different."

Can you complain to ASA about a misleading  government booklet?

You can complain instead to the Central Office of Information that to make a claim that 0845 is Local Rate contravenes their own guidance on such matters to government departments and agencies.

See www.coi.gov.uk/ccg/?page=54

You could try emailing the following senior bods at the COI assuming they all still work there.  Marc Michaels is the most relevant contact.

marc.michaels@coi.gsi.gov.uk
robert.irons@coi.gsi.gov.uk
alan.bishop@coi.gov.uk

You could also send a complaint to your MP using www.writetothem.com
