Where is this number for? Which CAB or CAS service?

CAB are upfront as to why they use 0844 numbers - http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/index/getadvice/why_we_use_084_numbers.htm - not that I agree with it.

Dialling the number before this fax number gets to a recorded message saying it's "Kentrip Care".

There is no geographic number for Citizens Advice Direct that I am aware of. There is now a freephone number - 0808 800 9060.

Information i can find states this is for residents within North Ayrshire (specifically those who fall within the boundary of NACAS, see http://www.nacasadvice.org.uk/news/1685/new-free-telephone-advice-line-launched-by-nacas).

It is operated by Citizens Advice Direct in Glasgow. Callers to the Citizens Advice Direct service are under no obligation to give personal information (name or location, etc), so the freephone number can be used by anyone requiring advice within Scotland

Thanks for posting about this. I've verified the entry in the database giving this new number with a note to say that it is free from landlines, and 3, O2, Orange, T-Mobile, Virgin Mobile and Vodafone mobiles.

It is interesting see that Citizens Advice Direct has deviated from the policy of Citizens Advice in general which advocates the levying of Service Charges through use of 0844 numbers.
