Aloud & The Glastonbury Festival
Apr 16th, 2004 at 2:57am

I am sure many people have heard of the debacle that ensued when tickets for the Glastonbury festival went on sale.

I am suprised that no one has raised the issue of profits from phone calls, the number of phone calls made by people ranked in the millions, so much so that BT had to stem the flow of calls to the local exchange by 60% to try and maintina service to other subscribers in the area.

Aloud and it's ticketing partner SEE tickets ran the hotline which was an 0870 number.

Having read through the many posts that were subsequently deleted on the Official Glastonbury website forum, many people, myself included, reported being connected on average 8-12 times only to receive a recorded message telling them that they were connected to the Aloud hotline, all operators are busy and to call back later, and then be disconnected immediately after the message had concluded.

I would be interested to know if the substantial profits from this scam were passed on the the Glastonbury festival organisers to be distributed amongst worthy causes or if the profits went to Aloud and seetickets.
