What next when companies get no dough from 0870?
Feb 12th, 2007 at 4:26pm

I read that come next year companies that use 0870 will not make money from these calls as they will be treated the same as "01/02" numbers!
We may see hundreds of businesses switching to the worse 0871 number?

Some companies have "bent over backwards" to keep their geo number secret, some have even changed their geo number after switching to 0870 (Watford Electronics for one) and a lot of businesses do not list their "overseas number"!!

I can't imagine what will happen next year, will we be logging-on to saynoto0871.com?

If 0870 is to be charged at standard rates, will it be part of a call package or will we be charged extra like an 0845 number? Smiley

0871 (up to 10p/minute from a BT landline) and 0844 (up to 5p/minute from a BT landline).

After years of ignoring govt. guidelines & RIPPING OFF Council Tax payers using 0845 numbers, Essex County Council changed to 0345 numbers on 2 November 2015

You will find that most companies will change to 0844 revenue sharing numbers. I've recently seen this with Next Directory. However the 0800 number from this database still works fine so I will continue to use that for the time being.

Stores like MFI and Habitat have changed from geographical to 0844. I expect Carphone Warehouse to change its branch numbers from 0870.
