Nov 16^th, 2007 at 12:57pm Have you guys noticed the Winter Fuel Helpline in the national press directed at pensioners with a helpline contact on 0845 015 1515? The Government's one-saving grace is that they come clean on the 6p connection charge and 4p/min call rate. But why do they target pensioners with this scam? Maxadolf

Reply #1 - Nov 16^th, 2007 at 1:13pm ..and so are all government help lines, like 'flood lines' and every other line that you have to ring, which is why I don't hold out much hope that the government will do anything about the doctor's surgeries.

Actually from 1 August 2007 daytime call charges from BT landlines to 0845 numbers have been reduced to 2p/min (plus the 6p call setup fee of course)

Reply #3 - Nov 16^th, 2007 at 11:54pm To Lompos: The 4p/min rate and 6p connection charge, according to the Government Department's advertisment in Wednesday's Daily Telegraph, referred specifically to BT landlines. Perhaps the government department (www.direct.gov.uk/keepwarmkeepwell) concerned needs to be advised accordingly. Maxadolf
