I can confirm that the 01274 740740 number for the Barnsley Bulding Society DOES Work. It can now be moved from Unverified to Verified status.

It does answer with an automated message confirming that it is the Yorkshire BS (to which the Barnsley is attached) and it then goes directly into the standard Yorkshire BS menu system which is commendably brief.

I just think it is a shame that Barnsley BS only mention their 0845 number on correspondence and website.

Thanks loddon, I've done this. There is a note by it to indicate that is will probably be answered as "Yorkshire Building Society", which is a good idea to avoid any embarrassment or confusion on the part of callers.

Oh, and Barnsley BS' contact page has BS on it:
