Anglia Water Spokesperson says 0345 is freephone.
May 28th, 2016 at 6:39pm

"Carys Jones, of Anglian Water, explains: "This offers a number of services to people who may need a bit more support, including password protection on their account. So if they do ever get a knock at the door with someone claiming to be from the 'water board', the person calling will need to provide the password the customer has set up through the scheme.

"We want all of our customers to feel safe in their own home which is why it's important they know what to expect from a real Anglian Water employee. If a customer has any doubts or can't remember making an appointment then it's best to say no and close the door – a genuine employee will be happy to come back at a different time or wait while you check they are who they say they are.

"All of our employees carry identification and will happily hand it to you while you check it. Calling our Freephone number 03457 145 145 at any time of day will put you through to a member of our team who'll be able to describe the person to you and confirm they are a genuine employee."

Same info is also given out by Northamptonshire Police.    http://www.northants.police.uk/#!/News/28142

Whilst seeking contact details of their media team i was surprised to find they use Premium Rate 0871 Numbers.

Usage of the misleading term 'free minutes' to describe something that you pay for is leading to widespread confusion, sometimes morphing into the entirely incorrect 'freephone' description.

Calls to 01, 02 and 03 numbers count towards inclusive allowances on landlines and mobiles else are charged at 'geographic rate'. Calls are chargeable, the charge is either monthly or per minute.

Calls to numbers starting 071-075 and 077-079 are inclusive on (some) landlines and (most) mobiles else are charged at 'mobile rate'. Calls are chargeable, the charge is either monthly or per minute.

Calls to 080 numbers are free from landlines and mobiles. There is no charge.

Calls to 084, 087 & 09 numbers are premium rate. They incur an Access Charge set by and paid to the benefit of the caller's landline or mobile provider and a Service Charge set by and paid to the benefit of the called party and their telecoms provider. The Access Charge is per minute. The Service Charge may be per call, per minute, or a combination of both.
