Forum post edit function
Sep 4th, 2007 at 10:03pm

It seems that the edit (modify) function for previous posts has been removed? Is this an intentional decision or is it a temporary glitch? It may be that the particular maximum duration during which a member can edit has been curtailed or reduced?

This makes things very embarrassing for any member of this forum who has made any error (or indiscretion) in a post. They can no longer edit their errors and correct their post !

Um, it is still available on posts I've made recently to the forum. However, I can't edit posts from yesterday. Perhaps you can't edit the previous days posts?

You can still edit your posts for a certain amount of time after posting.

Two questions in relation to your reply

How long is " a certain amount of time" ?

And why limit the time? MSE, of which this forum is a subsidiary, does not limit the time that you can edit previous posts.

This was brought in (to the best of my knowledge) at the time we had problems with disappearing posts.

You could always send a message to any of the Mods requesting alteration of the offending article  Roll Eyes

MSE, of which this forum is a subsidiary . . . .

I would say that we're more of an associate site. There's NO other link apart from

overcharges.

I was under the impression Martin funded/affiliated this site?
Any way that is a side issue, why did you not answer my questions instead of being pedantic?

On another forum I'm on, the time is 5 minutes

If you discover extra information, you could quote your previous post and qualify it - this could be an advantage, as people would be more likely to read it

If I could have answered them I would surely have done so.

Unlike you however, I was trying to be helpful in pointing out the error of your assumption.   Lips Sealed

As a moderator of the site, I would have thought that you would have or could get the reason behind it.

So please try and find out the reason why this site has a limit to modify a post, after all this thread is "site related" and this is a "site related" question, as I pointed out, MSE does not have this limit, and that site is linked, (in whatever way you choose to interpret words), and lets not get into a slanging match about the use of words.
