Please Note:

Calling 0141 418 9298 - is Asda Electricals - is NOT Asda Direct and is an internal number ONLY.

Asda Electricals will no longer pass your calls to Asda Direct. 0141 is only a local rate call if you are calling from Glasgow therefore costing you more to call this than it does 0844.

Asda Direct can be found on 08448243000.

Hi Patrick1955,

If you have an unlimited call package ( 01, 02 and 03 prefix ) from say BT, Virgin Media etc for each month, then anyone calling a 0141 is included in this package, and I do believe that this is the best way to make telephone calls.

Hi Jamesbond

I have called the 0141 number today, got through to a completely different company altogether who will NOT pass your call to Asda Direct.

The company in question was called City (Something) and could only pass me to Asda Electricals as they were in the same building. So therefore calling the 0141 number does not work anymore.

Hello and welcome to SAYNOTO0870.COM.

Thanks for the feedback. I've made some changes to the entries following your comments.

The entry giving 0141 418 9298 and 9299 has been removed. It was under "Asda Direct" and it did say it was for Electricals in the Other Information column.

I am not a customer of Asda Direct, so my comments are based on what I've seen online and speculation. It's not uncommon to find that companies like Asda outsource fulfilment to other companies.

As an example, I know for a fact that Asda Entertainment (the online CD and DVD music shop) is operated by company TheHut.com. So when you ring Asda Entertainment, you are actually speaking to TheHut.com.

It stands to reason that staff from outsourced providers won't want to be spending time putting calls through to Asda's other enquiry lines (as well as the possible cost if it's to a 084 number). So maybe that is how Asda Electricals works; maybe the City something company fulfils electrical orders.

With respect, your comments about 0141 being a local rate call when calling from Glasgow suggests that you may be under the false impression that national calls still cost more than local ones. In general this is not the case and hasn't been so for a number of years.

The cost of 0844 numbers are, generally speaking, more expensive than normal geographic calls because there is a subsidy passed to number users. BT is main exception because its prices (for 0844, but not 01/02/03) are held low by regulation, so if you are with BT and pay for your geographic calls, then the 0844 number is the cheaper option between 0141 and 0844 (assuming that the 0141 number was a suitable alternative).

However, Asda has a freephone number, 0500 100055, which allows access to many different store, online, insurance, financial services and mobile options. For each of these services, the 0500 number is listed in our database with a note telling users which options to select to be put through to the appropriate service. Since I checked last, the options on the 0500 menu have changed, so I have just updated the entries.

There is no need to call 0844 824 3000. Instead, ring 0500 100055 and select option 1, followed by option 2 and followed by option 3 to be put through to the same menu options as is on the 0844 number, for free!  Wink

I,ve just rung the 0500 100055 number message says welcome to the asda service centre, it,s out of hours, but looks like this number works. Also the 0113 2419833 number is working and puts you through to customer services. Hope this helps !

Thank you very much I just used the 0500 to call ASDA re George clothing returns and was on there for HOURS. It would have cost a fortune otherwise - far more than the £2.95 delivery charge they had charged me TWICE. Before this I went into the store but they said they cannot deal with delivery charges so I had no choice but to phone. You can see how easy it is for them to make money from the customers - I will not be using them again.

The ASDA billing fiasco was featured on BBC Watchdog quite recently.  You might also want to drop the Beeb a line.

Thanks to the person who recently submitted a number for Asda customer relations, Leeds 826 1267. Numbers in this area are for Asda, including Asda Direct (1286) and Asda Photo (1258) and these are now listed.  Wink

Asda has replaced quite a few of its 084 numbers with 0800 ones. Asda Direct was 0844 824 3000 and this now redirects to 0800 952 3003.
