After years of ignoring govt. guidelines & RIPPING OFF Council Tax payers using 0845 numbers, Essex County Council changed to 0345 numbers on 2 November 2015

Sherbert,

The Brick Lane office is very, very interesting, I pass the area on a regular basis and was not aware that Sky had an office there! I may just pop in next time I need to contact them! Thanks

As for the phone number, I forgot to mention that I did find the London number so I apologise for not mentioning it. I asked to be put through to customer services and again I was left holding for a long duration. I tried the 020 number later in the day and the same receptionist told me to call 0844 since they did not have the facility to put me through.

One can only suspect that she was told not to put people through in future.

I decided to email them and received a call back from them. After mentioning all of this, they gave my account a £50 credit AND offered me 12 months free telephone line rental and broadband! Result - I would recommend anybody being forced to use the 0844 number follow the same course of action.

As for having Sky in the first place, I moved here a few months ago and was only able to get a small handful of channels on the freeview box and none via analogue. I then noticed that every single house on the street has a sky dish installed. Turns out nobody here can get a tv signal!

ok that may be true but you still don't need to pay Sky a subscription to go on receiving most of the worthwhile channels not showing recycled repeats that broadcast on their platform.  Or there is also always www.freesat.co.uk

Tried 01506 421707 today.  A recorded message asked me to phone 08702 40 40 40.  Phoned that number (I'm a BT subscriber) and was told that the number was discontinued and told to phone 0844 241 4141.  I tried the number 0800 0468857 shown on this site and found I was in India.  I was unable to understand the person at the other end and said this.  I was told to redial.  I did this and was again dealing with India.  I asked to be transferred to UK and at first I was told it was not possible but after asking to speak to a supervisor I was transferred to London and I was able to understand perfectly.  BTW prior to trying the 0800 number, I tried some of the numbers around 01506 421707.  All had a message saying that they were no longer in operation apart from 421700 which was a recorded message saying that a department had tried to call me and should they still need to contact me, they will phone back later.

I personally find that the usual problem is that the staff in India cannot understand me as they only seem to have been trained to understand the words "please upgrade me to Sky Sports" and the words "please unsubscribe me from Sky" do not appear to exist in their dictonary of Indian English. The following numbers dont work...

01506421722   0800287855    0800468857  02079799500 01506484395  01506484564
01506831056   0800512592

These numbers all failed because the numbers are all disconnected.

  • 01506421722 - Requests your home telephone number
  • 0800287855 - Should be 0800 0287855 - Answers as "Technical Service Product Support helpline" with menu for 1) Set top box 2) MAC codes 3) Broadband
  • 0800468857 - Should be 0800 0468857 - Says "This number is now closed"
  • 02079799500 - Busy
  • 01506484395 - Working fax
  • 01506484564 - "This service is no longer available" [Number removed]
  • 01506831056 - "There are currently no Sky Box Office events available for booking"
  • 0800512592 - Should be 0800 0512592 - One of our agents tried to call you [Number removed]

Some numbers are discontinued and I have removed them. One is busy which I will leave for now.

Just tried 0870 240 4040, 01506 421 707 and 0800 046 8857.  All three have now been closed down and are no longer available.
Is there anything other than 0844*** left?

I tried the number before, 01506 421706 yesterday it seemed OK at a cursory glance - I didn't go any further than the initial message, although it didn't say that it was "no longer available" as many Sky numbers do. Try other similar numbers and let us know how you get on.

Along with Grampian Police Sky$$$ must surely deserve a wooden spoon for being one of the most determined bodies in the UK to force their customers to use an NTS number rather than the ordinary geographic phone numbers that the customers in question quite clearly prefer to call. Angry

I have found by NOT inputting any details including your phone number and they will sometimes transfer you to a call centre in another country.
Also try saying nothing or press # a few times. Good luk

Dave - thanks. I tried your number (ending 706) and it worked whereas the 707 number has been withdrawn. Odd!! Are there other similar numbers too?  705, 704 etc?

0800 046 8857 says that the number is now closed. However, 0800 046 8850 asks for the caller's telephone number. 0800 046 8851 has a menu on which might get you through to customer services.
