So anyone else who is interested and wants to contact SKY cheaper than the 0870 number, the number given was 0844-7742008 I've just finished a call to them using that number, and it was fine, quite surprisingly answered MUCH faster than usual too.

I'm still going to work on Sky in trying to get a 01 or 02 number though. Smiley

There is already a thread on Sky customer services number [which your post has now been moved to]. See my reply #430 on this thread  under a month ago listing the currently working numbers. If you need to contact them, please check the numbers I've said are OK and contact us if they aren't.

After trawling the net for days trying to find an alternative number to Sky Customer Service instead of the massively published  0870-2404040 number, I contacted BSkyB switchboard and asked them for an alternative number, stating "My Telephone is blocked from 0870 numbers" I was finally transferred to customer relations.

I was given a 0844 number, it is still 4ppm but its' better than the 0870-2404040 costs of 8.5ppm.

So anyone else who is interested and wants to contact SKY cheaper than the 0870 number, the number given was 0844-7742008 I've just finished a call to them using that number, and it was fine, quite surprisingly answered MUCH faster than usual too.

Interesting.  That suggests Sky is ready with a whole range of revenue-sharing 0844 numbers when (if) Ofcom implements the barring of revenue-sharing on 0870 numbers.

The cynic in me told me you were being optimistic about the cost of calling the 0844 number Sky gave you and, sure enough, despite the 5th, 6th and 7th digits of 0844 numbers meaning numbers costing 6p connection plus ½p, 1p, 2p, 3p, 4p or 5p per minute to ring from a BT landline are available, 0844 774 2008 is charged at the highest (g6) rate - 5p per minute at all times.  Surprise, surprise, Sky have chosen 5p/minute numbers to ensure they get the highest rake-off from what callers - their customers - are charged.

You have the prices wrong by the way - from a BT landline, 0870 numbers now cost 6p connection plus 6p/minute to ring during the day and 6p connection plus 1½p/minute to ring in the evening (7 days a week).

Well, if you had read just two posts back, you might have found your answer  Roll Eyes.

Here is a list of currently working Sky numbers - since I haven't called them, I don't know what you get but they should be able to transfer you.

I was told they could not connect to coustomer services.
They said I should call the 0870 number and ask for a callback. I asked for the supervisor and said my phone was barred from 0870 numbers. no problem job sorted.

mike206

sky told me that they cant possibly do callbacks as they are an inbound call centre. i was so mad with them. any ideas on this??

I saw a post sometime ago about an alternative to the Service plan Sky offer which was apparantly cheaper but equally as good.  Unable to find that post but does anyone know of it and a number to call. Also does anyone actually think Sky's own plan is worth taking out.(moneywise) Are you covered for the first year anyway should something go wrong ? I have Sky+. cheers all

Thanks for all your hard work Dave AND all the typing HOWEVER the sands of SKY appear to have ever moved on and all routes lead to 08442 414141.
I wanted to give them a blast about a recent spate of cold calling in my area but I am blowed if I am going to pay to call them on a non geographical number that is just adding insult to injury.
Perhaps I'll just stick one on the next bloke that knocks at my door trying to sell me SKY!
