She also told me that if you send a copy of your phone bill to Sky, they will refund the cost of a call to your account.

I think you will find that comes under the heading of "one of the numerous lies that Sky Customer Service Staff tell every single day of the week".

A. Nobody is going to go to all that trouble for £2.00 or whatever and

B. They will just ignore your letter with the copy of your bill if you do send it in.

C. They now charge even their own Sky Talk customers for calling their 0844 number in the weekday daytime when it used to be free for Sky Talk customers in the weekday daytime.

This will be like the many other official Sky lies their staff tell every day of the week to sell their over priced services such as "Sky Pay One Watch Forever" is a "no contract" and "no commitments" product.

By the way can Dave explain why I have again stopped receiving post update emails for this thread even though "Notify of Replies" shows me I am subscribed to it.  And no I didn't forget to click the last post update email I received for the thread from the forum.

Tried all the numbers, all now appear to be dead.

I assume I am not alone in finding Sky's practice of charging its subscription paying customers to call it up? I already pay them £x a month I do not feel I should have to pay them 6p + 4p a minute to phone them up!

I thought I was going to be OK given 0870 numbers are now included in my BT call package but noooo, they have shut all them off now as well forcing us to use an 0844 number WHICH STILL COSTS MONEY! planned????

Can I ask anyone else reading this to make a complaint to sky corporate on 020 7705 3000 (yes you can call them for free but they wont put you through) and also write to BBC watchdog at http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/gotastory/. I just have.

You'll be lucky.  Sky's 0844 numbers cost 8p connection + 5p/minute to call from a BT residential landline.

Before I do, can you advise what number I should replace it with? Does 020 79799540 still work?

Unfortunately no! Nor do any other of the geo listed numbers or the 0870. Seems like they've got us boxed in... for now Undecided

I have previously dialled through a load of Sky's numbers to find some suitable customer services numbers. These have all now been taken out of service by Sky. There are probably many other numbers for Sky's Livingston offices that have yet to be tried. Someone could do the some work and seek out any further alternatives.

We know that Sky has prefixes 01506 677xxx, 421xxx and 831xxx at least.

Other Sky numbers might be in the range 020 797995xx.

I've just tried this today and although it does get you through onto the Sky tape loop, they never actually answered me. I waited 40 mins the first time, 15 the second after that I just gave up. The automated voice told me "my call should be answered in under zero minutes" so I'm wondering if they have got wise to this and just direct us up a blind alley?

They must still make money from the landlines or they are being right gits, I rang them twice for an hour or so before i realised!! I have a new number for them now goes straight through after entering phone number (or leaving blank)...

01506 831 609

worked on the 13th May, ok cheers

Thanks for all the feedback. I have listed this number in the database in place of the old one, 01506 421722.
